As my campaign is set in Polynesia ( a World of Islands) Astral Navigation is very important as such a basic knowledge of Astronomy (I use real world Polynesian stuff) is essential. However beyond knowing the names of certain constellations/stars/planets, stuff about starpaths (where on the horizon they rise/fall and what angle of declination they have at a particular time of the year) and some 'stellar legends' to use a game hooks Astronomy is to broad and specialised a feild to be a must have supplement. Now a Supplement on Astral Navigation and Meterology would be good Come to think of it 1. The Heavens - detailing the origin of the Celestial Field/Stars/Planets and the place of the game World within it (Cosmic Myths & Legends, Geocentric 'worlds' orbited by the sun and moon, Fantasy-Science (eg Crystal Spheres)) 2. Life amongst the Stars - are Stars/Planets sentient beings?, do Efreets lie chained at the heart of the Sun, is the Moon made of Cheese?, do kobolds come from Mars? Are Blackholes Gateways to the Shadow realm? 3. The effect of Constellations/Stars/Planets on the World - Science of Lycanthorpy, Zodiac Magic, Planetary Alignments, The Curse of Haleys Comet, Magic-laden Solar Flares, and the Cataclysms which occur whenever the Galaxy makes a full rotation around its axis (a Galactic Year) 4. Astral Navigation and meterology - as per above (and essential) 5. Gaming amongst the Stars - gotta have it the new Astromariner PrC, travelling through the stars, Star Galleons and Space Frigates, Stellar geography, Blackhole Monsters, Star Dragons and Space Giant Asteroid herders
