lets face it 30 seems like a major payoff for the players but its NOT that much. not more then 5-6k each and definately not a game breaking ammount. there are SOOOOOOO many ways to relieve all that extra cash from the PC's. a lot of which have already been explored several others are: with that much cash flooding the market at once then prices of goods/ services that the PC's want would cost more. also, have none of you used taxes? the tax man cometh . . . . you tax the pc's on what they are worth they buy potions and maby some scrolls and +1 armor or weapons perhaps a 4k misc. item if they can find it and they still had the problem of hauling all that coin. I did put in 20k for a level one party - although it was 90% copper + silver (with about 70% pf that 90% as copper) they had to make trips and when they returned after the 1st trip they found some of the other local denizins were "making trips as well" in the end if you allow 30k to wreck your game then there are other larger problems then the 30k and some of the people I've gamed with could wreck a game for a LOT less then that You just have to take it back without seeming to do so, and good players wont just use it to up thier characters but also to up thier characters standing in the comunity by fixing up thier favorite inn (one character in an old game gave the barkeep 5-10k and told him "you need more light in here" - the next time they came in between adventurers the inn was "closed for remodeling" and later reopend as the "Chandalier Inn" - of course the PC's drinks were free. or perhaps now his drink of choice is on tap - perhaps just for him) and the plot hooks are limitless - the pc's renown will also go through the roof which you can use to your advantage as a DM and they can exploit as players . . . :uhoh:
