Um... probably to a certain degree. I really don't care as much about art in books as some people seem to. For the most part, it flies under my radar. Color art usually catches my eye, as does really good B&W. Honestly, I don't mind the amateurish artwork in the 1E DMG. I'd rather have those than most of the anime I've seen, in all honesty. Anime just turns me off, big time. Bad art, bad plots, nothing really redeeming IMHO. Of course, I'll fully acknowledge that I'm not an anime expert and there may be some anime that I really would like. It doesn't hurt me to look at a few pictures, so I appreciate people posting some samples/links. Cassander, those Dragonlance images are horrid. I _think_ the artist has some skill, but the style is so bad that I can't tell for sure. There's no way I'd ever buy a book with that sort of art in it -- I couldn't take it seriously. Hellhound, pretty much the same goes for the Akira art, just to a lesser degree. If that image was on the cover, I probably wouldn't ever pick it up, unless someone said it was an _awesome_ book. If it was, I'd either thumb through it and get a couple of goodies (something I only rarely do) or I'd buy it and read it then copy the rules to my "homerules" list. It could never be a regularly used reference item. The Ghost in the Shell image is a maybe. That sort of art doesn't really turn me off. I'd need to get a look at more of it to say for sure, but it's probably in that category that's unremarkable for the most part. Wouldn't affect my opinion of the book one way or the other, in all probability. Jester47, That's not a bad picture. Not exactly my favorite, but I could see enjoying small doses of it. Again, I'd need to see more to get a real feel for the style. Even if I did like it some, there still seems to be something "off" to it. It's a bit like the iconics in the 3E PH, I can't put my finger on it, but there's something that sits wrong. Honestly, I miss the old Elmore and Easley artwork. Those guys did great work. Granted, the subject matter may a bit to much into the chain-mail-bikinis, but the _style_ of art is great, especially Elmore's. Here are some links, for those interested: http://www.larryelmore.com/ArtGallery/AGB_W/AGB_WFiles/TheCelt.html http://www.larryelmore.com/ArtGallery/AGColor/AGColorFiles/Demons.html http://www.larryelmore.com/ArtGallery/AGColor/AGColorFiles/Avalynethelifegiver.html http://www.aumania.it/fa/easley/016.jpg Edit: Lidda ala Elmore (more or less): http://www.larryelmore.com/ArtGallery/AGColor/AGColorFiles/HALFLINGTHEIF.html
