To pull the economist's trick of reducing everything to empty cost-benefit, the benefit I get from a night with good friends vastly exceeds the cost of doing something kind of dull with them. I'm a person who'd much rather be around awesome people than being by myself, so there's not a whole lot of things a group of friends would invite me to do that I'd be like "nope, sounds lame, see you next time."</p></blockquote><p></p>
