I originally made this inquiry over to the Spycraft forums, but seemed worth cutting and pasting here.... (Me, lazy? Only when I can get away with it....) I have already ordered it, so I am more looking to confirm my decision (or regret it) than anything else. It was intended as a question, and ended up being a self inflicted advertisement.
Hmmm, I received some not-exactly-spam-since-I-requested-it from Serif today, advertising a program called 'Write Your Own Novel' designed for organizing the work that goes into a novel.
I was just wondering how well this might work for gaming? At $10 U.S. it seems a worthwhile risk, but maybe someone knows something that I don't. Or for that matter may find it worth getting after reading this.
Reviews on Amazon were favorable, getting four and a half stars average out of 11 reviews.
Apparently it allows defining NPCs... err, I mean characters, by their interests, and what their relationships are. It has a random name generator. It can record events characters and locations - To me this looks like gaming software! Smiley
I like some of Serif's software a great deal - I use Page Plus a lot, mostly to organize my gaming material. (I have, on occasion, sat down to play a game on the computer, and ended up booting up the desktop publisher instead - my tastes in software may be a bit suspect....) Others (that I have avoided) have been less exciting, but think that I have talked myself into the purchase while asking whether I should buy it....
