Got some ideas in your head you just have to get on paper? Don't forget we're accepting freelance submissions!

While the D&D Kingdoms of Kalamar setting, and the HackMaster rpg, are our two main game lines, don't forget we also have the Player's Advantage series, and GameMaster's Workshop series. Other ideas, like board and card games, are also accepted.

Freelance submission guidelines are at:

http://www.kenzerco.com/corporate/submission.php

You can also post basic questions here, and I'll try to answer them. :)

Can you go a bit more in-depth about the steps that should taken to submit ideas via e-mail?

Are there any particular subjects/topics that would get more or less consideration than others? For instance, would topics that dealt with more "flavor" be sought after more than ideas that dealt with "crunch"? Or ideas dealing with "steam-punk" be more interesting to you than "gothic horror"?

In regards to KoK, are there any areas that have very little to no information that writers could flesh out? ;)

Hmmm... Other than the details that are on the submissions guideline page, I can't think of anything. Are there any specific steps you are confused/questioning?

Hmmm... Well, if we're talking about the Kingdoms of Kalamar, or HackMaster, lines, the answer is a loose "yes." For example, certain things (like steampunk) don't belong in those settings. Of course, we also have our more "generic" lines (Player's Advantage, and GameMaster's Worshop) where other topics might fit.

The amount of flavor vs crunch would depend on the product, but a good balance is always nice.

Otherwise, it's hard to say. We're gamers too, so it would need to be something we think would sell, and/or something we think is just so cool it needs to be made. :)

Well, most areas have some information, at least in general. But there's still "huge tracts of land" :) and such that could be fleshed out much more.

Hey Elton, I remember you mentioning something about writing for the Game Mechanics. What's the scoop with that?
I ran out of ideas for a while.

I've learned that planning is needed, so . . . Wait a minute! Isn't this a little off topic?

Mark, I read the guidelines thoroughly and wouldn't mind some suggestions as to what you'd be looking for in a card game submission. Not in the sense of "do you want fantasy cardgames," but in the sense of how much to explain in the initial email.

Also, I followed the appropriate link to the rates and didn't see anything in there about board and card games. Can you give me a ballpark idea of what those might be?

Thanks in advance. :)

I looked over the writer's guidelines, and have a quick question.

It says that larger works pay up to "10% royalty off of net profits".

How much, roughly, does that break down to be? Given what I know of most company's sales, it doesn't seem the payment from net profits would equal what per word rate pays.

Thanks;
Patrick Y.
