He joined the Air Force as soon as he was able, and his innate skill saw him propeled into the elite ranks of the test pilots.</p><p></p><p>One day the experimental plane he was testing, codenamed the Free Eagle, suffered a catastrophic engine fire. As he prepared to bale out, his parachute tangled up in the prop and was torn off, leaving him clinging to the canopy of the spiraling down aircraft. <em>Well</em>, he thought grimly, <em>either die in the flaming wreckage or die on the ground</em>. And he jumped.</p><p></p><p>But didn't hit. Instead, he found himself floating in the air as his plane went down, and watched it as it crashed and exploded. Carefully, he found he could control his movements through the air, and he made his way down to the ground crew. He was soon greeted by a crew of parascience researchers, who tested the limits of his powers and showed him new ways to use them.</p><p></p><p><strong>Appearence/Personality</strong>: Tall, fit and fair haired, Mark has been depicted alongside other Allied superhumans on recruitment posters.
