Party of 4, How many encounters of CR equal to party level until level up by level:
Level LevelXP Enc Split Mod Encounters 1 1000 100 25 25 40 2 2000 400 100 50 40 3 3000 900 225 75 40 4 4000 1600 400 100 40 5 5000 2500 625 125 40 6 6000 3600 900 150 40 7 7000 4900 1225 175 40 8 8000 6400 1600 200 40 9 9000 8100 2025 225 40 10 10000 10000 2500 250 40 11 11000 12100 3025 275 40 12 12000 14400 3600 300 40 13 13000 16900 4225 325 40 14 14000 19600 4900 350 40 15 15000 22500 5625 375 40 16 16000 25600 6400 400 40 17 17000 28900 7225 425 40 18 18000 32400 8100 450 40 19 19000 36100 9025 475 40 20 20000 40000 10000 500 40
Forty, all the way down. Why? Well, Xp to next level = Current Level * 1000. So, to get to the next level via CR = Party Level in a party of 4, you have: Level * 1000 = K (Level*Level*100/Level)/4 -> 1000 = K (Level*100/Level)/4 -> 1000 = K 100/4 -> 1000 = K 25 -> 40 = K Current system is designed for about 13. This would slow down advancement by a lot at most levels. On the plus side, changing the base multiplier from 100 to 300 changes it to 13.33333 equal CR encounters to level up, which is book value......
