The thunder of the crashing waves resounds across the bay, echoing from the cliffs and over the darkened sea. Nekokaburi stands firm at the edge of the bluff, waiting for the waters to cease their tumult and grow calm. They do not. Instead of dying down, the waves pile unnaturally upon one another, rising higher and higher to build a tower of shadowy water and moon-spattered foam that looms high over the grassy bluff. The waters sway, rumbling like a distant avalanche. Streaks of pale luminescence trickle upwards from the sea, staining the watery tower until it glows with the dull, acid green of rusted bronze. The viridian waters continue to sway for a moment, pulsing faintly with green light. Then they topple towards Nekokaburi, slowly at first, but with a terrifying inevitability. Within seconds, the emerald tsunami strikes the bluff, rocking the earth and spattering the meadow with a corrosive greenish spray that burns through grass and stone indiscriminately. Within seconds, the tsunami subsides, leaving great steaming holes and crevasses eaten into the stone face of the bluff. The tremors increase; the earth shakes beneath Nekokaburi’s feet. Then, with a whistling shriek of tortured stone and water, the ground bursts asunder in a dozen places as fountains and geysers of venomous green liquid erupt from below! A rain of emerald acid falls all around Nekokaburi, along with half-melted stones spewed aloft by the vile fountains. The ground’s rumble increases in pitch until it sounds like a giant’s metallic laughter; then, with a terrible shriek, a whole section of the bluff face, eaten away by the corrosive tsunami, gives way and rolls downward into the sea! The emerald tsunami demolishes the fountain; redirects the rolling of the stone!
