Well having got Fleshmongers up, another product ready for next week (Non Yotz) and a bucket of Dead Future writing done, I guess I have time to write up a brief report of my Gencon UK Trip
Firstly Gencon UK is nowhere near the scale of Gencon Indy, but I went on Friday 4th November for 3 days with the aim of promoting YotZ to the English gamers. I ran 4 x 5 Hour sessions of Independance Day Massacre (in hindsight HAAC0 would have been a better choice, as the party have orders), 1 on Friday night, 2 on Saturday and 1 on Sunday morning.
Total kill ratio was a little over 50%, I had to be a little easy on them as they had 'paid' for the events and if I wiped them out in the first hour I guess I would have had complaints. Having said that it wasn't easy keeping them alive, especially when they go toe to toe with zombie trying to punch them to death
In all cases they managed to escape the park, and I had a little service station side trip which they finished up on. Strange how whichever car they took always had bullet holes in the tank and ran out of gas near the station
The second ranger station in IDM also came in immensly useful in making the party stay in the park a little longer, although that single zombie outside took a fair number of the party with them.
Without going into detail on each adventure, I would have to say that the play of the weekend was torn between the guy who used the outboard motor of the dingy in the first parking lot as a makeshift chainsaw (took two classics with that weapon) and the party who used the fuel tank on the truck in the carpark and the oxygen tanks to cause a diversion (hehe some diversion, they blew the truck half way across the carpark and managed to blow up about half a dozen other vehicles whilst they were at it).
The Roleplaying award has to go to the guy who played Marta Hendrickson (you know the one with the bikini and not a lot else), as the perfect bimbo, whose destiny in a movie is to die horribly at the hands of a monster. With shrieks when zombies attacks, screaming and running away from everything (always taking care to make sure clothes snag on branches and get torn off) and refusing to do anything that might break her nails. She thoroughly deserved to die and it was no surprise when on of the party popped her in the back of the head with a hunting rifle.
Unfortunately I didn't have a great deal of time to take piccies, running games and all. But here are a couple of the ones I did get (I'm the ugly one behind the screens
)
Anyway, a big thanks to all the players who took part and made the games as enjoyable as they were and now I have 12 months to plan next years zombie gorefest.
