Yet another 5' step thread

Okay guys, I'm pretty sure that you cannot do this but if you could please point me to the relevant passage in the Core books or FAQ, it would be great.

Can a player (not hasted),

1. Take a 5 ft step
2. Open a door as a move-equivalent action
3. Step through the door with a standard action

Thanks!

No, five foot step is only part of a full round action. However, I see no problem with walking up to a door, opening it and walking in all in one round. I do it every day, dozens of times. I just did it again to prove to myself I could. :D

No, but only because you may only take a 5'-step if you take another move during the round.

"Move-Equivalent Action: Move-equivalent actions take the place of movement in a standard action or take the place of an entire partial action. The combatant can normally also take a 5 foot step.

Standard Action: A standard action allows a combatant to do something and move a combatant's indicated speed during a combat round. A combatant can move before or after performing the activity of the action. "

Thus, you could:
1-5'step
2- open door as a MEA
3- take another standard action, or a MEA, but not another move

Hope that helps,
Greg

Slight quibble. You can make a 5'-step during a partial action, as long as you've done no other movement during the round.

Ya, it should have been 5' move is for when you make no other move actions. My bad. I'll blame that one on stupidity on my part and not the brain fry from watching the oscors or the late hour. :D
