Yet Another Leap Attack Thread

First Post
As we all know, Leap Attack doubles (or triples) the extra damage added by Power Attack when the leaping charge conditions are met. Debates rage on whether this means that two-handed weapon users get 3x or 6x the BAB tradeoff during a Leap Attack.

My question is, what is balanced for a feat like this? It requires Power Attack (minimal investment), a Charge (can't be used every round), and a Jump check (easy DC). With that in mind, it's a fairly easy feat for combat types to get.

Can anyone think of an argument for interpreting this feat as 6x the BAB tradeoff, from a game balance standpoint? From my analysis, Leap Attack looks brokenly overpowered if interpreted as 6x the BAB tradeoff, regardless of what the feat's poor wording says.

I'm not familiar with the debate, but I'm not sure why it even exists - surely the basic, generic "D&D maths" rule applies where multipliers are added?

Quite apart from common sense applying of course :)

Again, I'm hoping for discussion here about what the feat *should* give. The errata clarification really doesn't clarify anything.

"Should" give? Simply delete the third sentence, the one referring to two-handed Power Attack. (I think that that was their intent anyway; otherwise, the errata doesn't do anything.) This way, all you're left with is "+100% the normal bonus damage from your use of the Power Attack feat" with no confusing qualifiers for two-handed use. Whether you're using a one- or two-handed weapon, you simply double the bonus damage; -1/+2 one-handed and -1/+4 two-handed.

IMC we have been using it as an an additional +1 to the multiplier for PA(x1 goes to x2, x2 goes to x3 etc.) i.e. 1-handed weapon -1 to-hit=+2damage, for 2-handed weapon -1 to-hit=+3 damage.

I realize having read the other thread that this is the most conservative interpretation but it has worked for us and the players with it seem happy enough with the extra damge on charges.
