Hey G'baal, Not feeling very good tonight [broken legs suck], and a little sullen [moms in the hospital ICU] I will quickly go over what you posted today... Also very soon I will have a completed Version of Abbaye which has already incorportated both Draako, and His foster father the Grand Duke of Myriam, as well as the Order of the Foul, and The Order of the Blade which I am thinking for variaties sake should be renamed The Sept of the Blade. About factions of the Order of the Foul I totally agree what I wrote concerning the Order being seen as a extortion syndicate was what most law organizations know them to be not what they truely are. About the Staff all I can say is ouch I do not want to be around when he uses that. Remember though that he is NOT undead but is a Fiendish GOD, an Equivilent to Satan. And that his menions are not Undead but Fiends, or Fiendish creations [ see my monsters post, and reply your comments about creatures you would like to see] So I would change its abilities to something more Daemonforge specific. [see suggestions below] This power is called Waves of Darkness. First, Yogsathoth raises the staff into the air and chants a spell which takes about ten minutes to say, after which hes slams the base of the staff to the ground. With that a large black sphere of darkness laced with electricity (3d8 worth, DC 30) followed up by 1d10 spherical waves of negative energy (each wave deals 2d6 negative levels). Ten minutes is a long time in combat, especially for a last resort I would make it a three round action or at most a four. That is abut five minutes. Cinimatically I would describe the Wave of darkness as a rippling dark aura that carries the stench of Numer. When he brings the staff down to the ground the rippling aura explodes into a power wave of negative energy that knocks all within a 60ft radius to the ground on a failed fortitude save (DC 30) nevertheless all characters who are hit by the rapidly moving wave are stunned for 1d6 Rounds and take 1d4 temporary wisdom drain. Yes I toned the power level of the staff down in my version but it has a more interesting effect. Imagine Yogi [my new nickname for him] In the middle of mass combat with soldiers all around slamming my version down only the more powerful opponents will maybe stay standing. A whole unit of elven warriors charging would be knocked to the ground if they failed it makes for a interesting Battlefield weapon. It also carries with it the effects of a desecrate, unhallow, create undead, and create greater undead spell. The radius of the spell (remember, this spell is spherical and travels in all directions from the point it starts) is about 5 miles. I would change all references to undead, or spells helpful to undead to fiend. for know we only need the cool spell names later we will return and write the DF spells. I would think that Unhallow, Desecrate would be able to stay but Undeath in the DF setting works wierd so I would stay well away from it for now. I would change the Create undead to some spell named Taint Mortal flesh, or to Taint of the Foul ( A spell that changes perminantly its victims into fiendish thralls.) and Greater Corruption (Actually warps the body and mind of a victim until they are more fiend than man. And as far as the radius of the spells I would tone that down to within 120 ft of the Staff. I realize my version is weaker but it is still epic in level, and surely a weapon fit for a dark lord. Have you given Yogi stats such as D & Dg or how do you plan to stat him. Anyway no real idea of where his staff would be cept the usual places under the endless sea in some sunken city, In Sehandalos the City where first the Daemons entered the Forge. One thing I would say is remove the staffs need to connect normal carriers to Yogsathoths will maybe make it call to him but have it more or less like the one ring unless its being used or held it only weakly calls to the menions of Yogsathoth. This way you could place it into the care of some hapless character a "Bilbo" if you will that has been holding undyingly for nearly four hundred years. Alows you to create a good story plot for adventuring in the Shadow of The Dark King. Or maybe Draako has the staff but must reconstruct the Gate and master the staves use to accomplish the Final Opening. Perhaps the third Fiend war is close at hand. I am beginning to get a mental image of a lone Celestial Hunter who knows the Lore of Yogi, and has been struggling to Ketch up to his menion Draako from the first sign of the boys corruption. Make for a good novel that. Perhaps this Hunter wields the staff.
