Ok, I'll give it a try. You all start pitching and rocking. The gnome airship floats upward in an almost mockingly gentle rise, and seems to hover for a long moment. Then, leaving your stomachs far above, the ship hurtles toward the icy sea below. Eldon and Frug, your pilot and navigator respectively, begin shouting and pulling ropes in a frantic effort to stabilize the ship. As panic swells within you, you look back on recent events.
The wealthy noble who chartered your falling gnomish vessel, and who remained expressly nameless (he did pay cash in advance, 100gp each for weapons and supplies), decided that this airship would be the fastest way to reach the Lost Isle. Thus, you would likely have a head start on the competition in finding the scrolls rumored to be hidden in a cave somewhere on the Isle, and could leave the city by night, avoiding the eyes of gate guards or rumormongers.
Eldon and Frug's efforts in vain, the ship crashes with a jolt into the icy sea. Timber and fabric splash all around you, and for a moment you are submerged. With a gasp, your heads break through into the cold air, fighting to clear yourselves from the wreckage. A rocky beach glistens in the dawn light, giving way to thick evergreens. The distance looks swimmable, but the shock and cold make it seem much farther. Beyond the shore, a single tendril of smoke rises above the treeline.
