[QUOTE="Evenglare, post: 5720352, member: 63245"] Nice replies. Most gaming books describe what to put in an adventure, but very few actually tell how to organize and RUN an adventure. This is an example of an Eberron campaign I run. Turned into a planescape campaign. Any recommendations? Thoughts? Eberron Campaign First Session “The year is 998 YK (Year of the Kingdom). You find yourself with several strangers traveling to Sharn by way of the lightening rail. Your reasons are your own. The last war has recently ended with a tenuous pact known as “The Treaty of Galifar”. The hour is late , and rain can be seen outside the windows of the train. Chains of lightning can be seen jumping from the lightning stones that give the train locomotion, to the droplets of water creating a strange web of blue electrical weave. The burn of the Everglow lamps light the car…” -Introduce characters by appearance. -A young gnome with a green jaded monocle (obviously for show) enters the car with a set of papers in hand calling out “ Korranberg Chronicle! If it happens in the Five Nations, you will read about it in the Korranberg Chronicle!” If a player buys a chronicle it costs 5 silver. The paper is embellished with a silvery blue Unicorn which is mark of House Orien. Several stories are featured such as a large meeting of the Church of the Silver Flame in Sharn. A band of warforged have been sighted on the edges of the “now eradicated” nation of Cyre. Cid Karvatcan has recently taken a band of pirates in the Lhazaar Principalities and are causing unrest Several ships have dissapeard off the coast of Xendrick due to erratic weather in the tropical regions. Rumors of a new design of airship from House Lyrandir. Astromancers predict increased activity of Siberyis showers in the following months due to the close proximity of Fernia : The Sea of Fire. Several teachers have been expelled from Morgrave University for reasons unknown. The weekly column of “The social aspects of the newly declared race of warforged” , by Whizzlethorp Hilar. - Interesting figures in the car include: A man presumably Human in Purple robes with a staff that has a red stone atop it. Three men that look to be elvish sitting quietly, seeming almost devoid of life. Two mercenaries , one that looks human carrying a large sword, the other in robes with a Staff, the shaft made from an amber stone with an angel ontop. A warforged (a race engineered by the House Cannith), who seems to be expelling some Sort of energy from its body as though it were breathing. Another lone mercenary , possibly human, dressed in brass armor, a Lotus flower embedded into his armor.. !! STORY EVENT -1 !! “Suddenly , a large deafening sound strikes. The everglow lamps cut out (LLV kicks in) and the car begins to shake violently , and eventually topples over (Ref DC – 15 , 1d6). A loud masculine cry of pain is heard as the car hits the ground . When the car hits windows are shattered (Fort DC- 18 if by the left windows, 12 if not, 1d6+1)” (DM Notes) If at any time the PCs wish to look to see who screams, the PC will see one PC, at random, kill the old man with the Red Crystal Staff. The man who murdered the old man is a Changeling , (which was the Brass Armored mercenary.) “The impact broke the car in 2 pieces. You can feel the rain wash over you as the everglow lanterns return to their luminescent state” Characters at this point may realize who is missing , or roll a perception check (DC 10). Notice the man in brass armor is gone. “As you are looking around the wreckage composing yourself, 5 men approach you. These men are wearing plate armor emblazed with a Silver Flame on the chest. HALT , put down your weapons and come with us, you are under arrest by the law of the Silver Flame.” -Fight or Run If fought , creatures are 5 Foot Soldiers (GM guide , pg 286) , 200 gp -Check the dead robed man. He has a sheet of paper with humanoid enhancement schematics. To be delivered to a person named Starshard. Features: Cannith Dragonmark ITEMS: Robe, Schematics Paper, Khyber Staff ( +1 Quarter staff , +5 MP), 100 gp, 3 Cure light wound potions - Tracking (Survival DC 10) the man who ran away reveals he went towards sharn. -In either case, a more personal introduction is in order.
