Quite a lot of EN World users actually have a balance at the EN World GameStore, and I suspect many don't even know that they do. Community Supporters get cash back on their purchases, for example. Indeed, 2 customers have come and used their balance (perhaps not even knowing it was there!) just since I put that up.

Now, that said, in addition to that the ENGS affiliate program will be going live very soon. This let's ANY board user participate simply by using their EN World user ID. Knowing that there is a balance with which you can buy product, or even get RL cash, might be kinda handy. (Morrus suggested the Balance thing on each page).

Wouldn't it be neat to get a portion of the sale of a product just cuz you happened to post a link (something many of us do anyway?). For example, if someone was asking about Future Soldiers Handbook (or something like it) and you linked them to ENGS with your user ID, you get a buck 50. This could add up without you even realizing it! That's why it's on the header like that.

So I should just posting tons of links? Or does it only trigger when someone buys through a link I put up?

I'm not sure what you mean. If someone makes a purchase within 4 hours of clicking a link that you post (with your affiliate ID included) of a participating product, you would get paid for that. In fact, I think Morrus was thinking of you today when he mentioned "proud writers will want to link to stuff that they've worked on, AND see an extra return".

How would that work with links in signatures? Logically, I'd think the same "timer" would apply as the post, but that seems so... easy?
It's four hours after the would-be buyer clicks the link, not four hours after the post is made.

Okay. Originally you didn't specifically clarify that someone actually had to buy something for me to get money. It sounded like I'd just get money every time I put a link. I didn't think that's what you actually meant, but I just wanted to let you know some folks might be confused if you didn't specify.
