Its not a job, its an adventure... I would have to say one of the most memorable fights occurred when i was dming my players. 2 PC (gnome sorcerer/harper scout and elf fighter/rouge/duelist) They are a special team of guards for Waterdeep (equivalent of a swat team; we call the group SORT from the tv show OZ; the premise is they deal with threats to the city that are too much for the regular guards to handle.. The initiation was hillarious, but that is another story...). They had to seek out an escaped prisoner who tried to assassinate one of the masked lords of Waterdeep. They pursued him for four days across the sword coast and finally came upon a gigantic sentient for lack of better term "Ghost ship" from the nine hells. Apparently the Assassin was working for a powerful devil. They boarded the ship (after the "ghost ship" ran over their own ship, killing almost the entire crew). Finally, after a few days and the beginnings stages of starvation. Everyone thought they were saved, but the ship recognized the death ship for what it was and were desperately trying to escape while the pcs dove off the death ship and tried to board the merchant vessell while being beaten off the side by screaming men yelling to get off! you will curse us all!!!!! Suffice to say, they refuse to step one foot on a ship : ) LOL.
