Message: <blockquote data-quote="Desdichado" data-source="post: 3331330" data-attributes="member: 2205">I'm not sure which edition I played, except by the covers.  I played the original BD&D with the blue cover once or twice, but that was before I really got into it--I remember being distinctly more interested in my friends Kenner Star Wars toy collection than this game he was trying to make me pay attention to.When I actually started playing it a lot for real at age 10-11, it was the Erol Otus BD&D and ED&D books.  From there, I also moved quickly to the Elmore covers (to this day, still my favorite Elmore pictures.)  A couple of years later--if not sooner--I was playing AD&D with some other friends.  As an aside, I somehow also acquired a copy of the official AD&D Coloring Album about this time, which cemented my interest in the game.As we moved more into high school proper, I played a bit less, and it was all 1e AD&D.  I did play a few other games--Top Secret S.I., Star Frontiers and a few others featuring prominantly.  Apparently 2e came out right as I was graduating high school, but by that time I wasn't playing anymore at all and didn't notice.  A few years later, in college, I picked up RPGs again when I discovered a few friends of mine were former players--still interested, but no longer with a group.  We played mostly Top Secret again, and I also got heavily into White Wolf's Werewolf game.Then came back to D&D for 3e and haven't looked back since.  Although I have a few quibbles still, the d20 iteration does enough of what I want it to that I'm unlikely to need anything else for the foreseeable future.</blockquote>
