"your defenses"

Some mounts/summoned creatures get "your defenses, not including any temporary bonuses or penalties"

Let's say I get +2 AC vs. opportunity attacks, does the creature (mount, whatever) with this power also get that bonus? (It's situational but not temporary).

Also, did anyone notice that the mounts for cavaliers got nerfed significantly in the compilation? It seemed like the one reason to _play_ a cavalier and it got shot down...

I would have to say no, a situational bonus like something vs. opportunity attacks wouldn't apply. I would consider it to be a temporary bonus, that only applies during an opportunity attack. The idea is to make such defences easy to calculate, so giving them situational bonuses runs counter to that concept.

when i play summoned creatures, i treat conditional bonuses as being temporary (and threfore not applicable to the summoned creature).

The reasoning?
(a) it's not always on (only on when the condition is met)
(b) you shouldn't need to be getting bogged down with summoned creatures... it should be easy to just look at their numbers and go with it, without worrying too much about it's own conditional/temporary things AND the summoners...
(c) if i did take conditional as not being temporary, i might be able to make the same argument for combat advantage from flanking (i.e. if the summoner is flanking an enemy with another ally, since the CA is conditional on the positioning, someone might say that the summoned creature gets CA too) -- it's a cheap example, but it's an example to show that i don't want to have to stop in game to discuss every possible conditional and determine on a case by case basis what is realistic vs not or what mechanically makes sense vs not.

So I just avoid the whole thing so that it never coms up as a game-slower to discuss every conditional, and just say that conditional is treatd as temporary for the purposes of summoned creatures.

Having said that, that's just my opinioon and I know for a fact that my opinion on what classifies as conditional vs temporary vs normal on summoned creatures differs from some other people's interpretations (but i won't go in to what that is so that i don't derail this thread)
