Female heroine given powers, from a small village... very dark setting, huge conflict going on between good & evil, where both sides had numerically numbered heroes, one chapter details how in a battle the 4th, 7th & 8th evil champions were annihilated along with their troops when the 3rd of good destroyed himself (and his troops...) because they were losing the battle.) First book was released about 10 years ago.
