My first car was a '65 Mustang which I started lovingly restoring at the age of 12. It had the 289 hi-po motor and was great fun, but I abused that car so bad. I think I drove for about 4 years before somebody told me you didn't have to push either the gas or the brakes to the floor all the time. I broke pretty much every moving part, and some that shouldn't, on that car at least once. I still have it in a barn waiting for the money to re-re-restore it. While the Mustang was in disrepair I had a string of family cast off that I drove part time. -A truely ugly yellow '78 jeep with a white detachable top, really big mud tires, no paint on the passenger side because the previous owner tipped it, and no mufflers. Another fun vehicle, but it tended to attract unwanted attention from law enforcement personel. -The 'Tank' a 78 t-bird in a faded green that sorta looked like army drab after a while. That was a big ugly sucker too. A grandfather cast off. -A white '77 cutlass supreme that was a mom cast off. -A couple of ford ranger pickups one of which was a dad cast off. The second Ranger was an extended cab that was my first real from the dealer 'new' car. Appearently, I've had better luck with fords than many of you. The '97 Ranger still runs great and in a bit of irony I cast it off to my dad instead of the other way around for a change. Currently driving an '04 econobox--a toyota pretending to be a Pontiac called a vibe. Great mileage and lots of cool toys, but not nearly as much fun to drive as the V-8's I grew up on. I guess in this era of $2+ a gallon gas I can't complain.
