Message: <blockquote data-quote="Wik" data-source="post: 3643564" data-attributes="member: 40177">I remember in high school (grade 9 or so) I was scanning through some clip art for a paper in my typing class when I came across a monster from the monster manual I.  Now, at this point, I was pretty embarrassed about saying "hey, I play D&D" (I was like that, as a kid), so I just said something along the lines of "I'm pretty sure this picture was lifted from a book I have at home."My typing teacher comes by, and takes a look at it.  "Hey, yeah, it is.  I have the same book."Exchange glances.  Makes sense that he'd be a D&D nerd.(he was, I verified it a year or so later)***Not really about meeting someone who was a gamer, just a strange context sort of thing, but:I'm at college one day, and there's a beer garden thing going on - sort of a "welcome to the school" sort of thing.  I was running between classes (of course it had to happen in between modern history and anthropology), and decided to cut through the beer garden because, let's face it, that was about as close to partying as I'd get that night.Along the way, I bump into some guy or another, and he makes this weird gesture at me.  Almost like he's making a cross.  He's really, really drunk, and has a football player body (I think he was wearing a hockey jersey, too...).  He makes this gesture, and I'm a little weirded out, and I keep on walking.  I take a few steps, and his buddy yells out "Hey, your turn undead attempt worked!  Nice one!"Then, they both started chanting "Turn undead!  Turn undead!"I don't know whether it's funny, or insulting.  I guess I *am* a little pale. <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f642.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":)" title="Smile    :)"  data-smilie="1"data-shortname=":)" /></blockquote>
