Message: <blockquote data-quote="ashockney" data-source="post: 3646083" data-attributes="member: 1363">Going to college, I was actively involved in Hope Fellowship, a group of chrisitian students, at Ashland University.  Although as college students we were all far from "perfect" most of the people were pretty straight laced.  The leaders of the group were terrific role models and tended to lead by example.  These were guys I really looked up to, and I really enjoyed hanging out with this group, although mostly on the "fringe".  In something of a coup, the leader of Hope Fellowship won the student senate election to be President for his senior year.  He was a great leader, and with my poli sci minor and role as news editor of the college paper, I worked closely with him through the year to help him accomplish his goals.  We got closer, and even bonded, given our common interests.  Now I'm an active gamer, and pretty much a big ol' nerd.  I'm running and playing in a weekly gaming group on campus, and we run it out there in the open for everyone to see/participate/join in.  It should really come as no surprise...  After it's all said and done, he graduates (a year or two older than me) and I help him move all his stuff into his new home in town.  Low and behold, among the crates of stuff I move into his house is a crate full of 1st edition D&D books.  Crap!  What a missed opportunity.  We talked gaming for the rest of the day and exchanged a slew of great gaming stories.  He had never seen me gaming, and it had never come up in conversation, given all our other interests...</blockquote>
