I loved the conversation between the druid and the burly fighter guy.

Druid: "You realize, every time you knock one down, I feel the pain."

Burly fighter guy: *annoyed* "But if we do not cut them down, what will we build our houses out of?"

Depends on the ruleset... last time I played, every time you had your sword connect, you were supposed to say "Damage seven! Slashing!" (Or as the werebunny used to say: "Damage one! Tickle!")

I think it went:

"Damage (number)! (Type)!"

And you had to keep track of your own hit points on a giant "key ring of doom" where all your information was stored.

Other groups have GM's that watch and pick people out as "dead"

Sometimes it's just "Whack someone until they fall down".

All of them are fair, and cathartic, and fun as hell. LARPing is the guilty pleasure of roleplayers everywhere.

And sometimes larping doesn't involve whacking people, or shooting them with toy guns, at all.

We used to use limbs from the poplar trees to whack each other with. These sissies are using padding!

I also don't see any 5' squares or AOO's! Someone's not playing fair at all :P

Sometimes it involves druids whining about trees. :p

Heh, I swear the first thing that sprang into my mind was "Boy, I bet beavers just annoy the crap out of you, then."

Damage calling is awfull, in the LARP I runned for 5 years, every PC had 3 hit points.

And our beholder was a lot nicer too bad I lost the pics.
