Looks like a really cool family movie. It's by the author who wrote Jumanji and the Polar Express and it's directed by Jon Favreau (Elf). Click "Enter the Site" for a synopsis of the plot.

I just saw a preview of this attached to Robots. Very interesting, though it doesn't give that much information beyond a "Jumanji in space!" vibe

I saw the trailer and thought "Jumanji again? Why?"

If you have read the books, you will see that it is in fact just "Jumanjii in space." As for why, well I suppose it is because it is simple to do, they can build off the success of Jumanjii and Polar Express, and that author has already been willing to sell off his book rights.

That being said, I was disappointed with how Jumanjii really drifted from the book and I am hopeful that this one will stick to it better. It is a very short book, but there is plenty of opportunity to fill in the spaces without changing the story. It isn't a very deep story, if they stick to the book it will be an incredibly simple story with amazing visuals and hopefully some really fun scenes and a pretty cool ending.

I thought "Jumanji in Space" when I saw the trailer as well. But I liked Jumani a lot, so I think this movie looks pretty cool.
