I do wish you could have shown how you got the blue in, but that's a minor nitpick.

The blue was just painted in on a layer behind the lines, just like I painted in the forest color last time. I just used long, horizontal strokes with a soft-edged brush; there's no tricks involved in that one!

I was out of town, but finally had a chance to check this out. Very, very nice. I can see that I will need to play around with these techniques for a while to get the hang of them. I like SJ Ross's method too, but I think yours is more flexible and I can adjust the effects more precisely.
