[ZNG] Fantasy Cartography podcast #3

ZombieButch

First Post
The third installment of the Fantasy Cartography with Adobe Photoshop podcast is now available at YouTube! Check it out here!

I've also added a Fantasy Cartography section to ZombieNirvana.com, where you can go to find all the latest on the podcast and the upcoming book.

Thanks to everyone for all the great feedback I've been getting on the podcast! Thanks for listening, and happy mapping!

I gotta tell you, this is really priceless. Only thing stopping me from using what I'm learning here to the full extent is not having photoshop. But the basic ideas that you're sharing, I'm taking and using with the best that I have (Visio).

thanks

You've just made a customer here. I love the new installment. I'm learning a lot of great stuff!

You know, I'm having so much fun with these podcasts that I can't help but ask if you have considered creating more extensive tutorials to sell as little teaching videos for download. Personally, I would find this much, much more user friendly than a book. I find it's easier to get a grip on what's happening and how things are supposed to go if I see it first hand instead of reading directions and trying to figure it out from still shots. But, maybe that's just me.

In any case, I'll keep following these pod casts and I'll be sure to pick up your books/pdfs when they come out. Thanks again for sharing all this!!

Best,
Dan

EDIT: What ever happened to that tutorial you had on your page for making maps with those wood-cut-like ocean waves? I was looking for that the other day but couldn't find it.

Ditto all this, esp the part about selling more extensive videos for download.

Thanks everyone!

That was actually what I had in mind before starting the podcast! I'm looking at some options in that department for publication, but whether it'll be in the form of downloadable videos or something else (like a DVD) is still up in the air.

Mostly, though, it's just a question of having the time to do it! Producing the podcasts is a lot of fun, but it takes awhile... I have to record a lot of takes before I get one I'm really satisfied with, and even then I still have to go through and edit out the bits where I trip over my own tongue and curse.

It was lost to the ether when the last incarnation of my website went all to hell. But have no fear! That same technique will not only be in the book; it'll appear in a couple of weeks in the podcast, too. :)

It took all week, but episode #3 is now up at Revver as well! (Special thanks to Sean up at Revver support, who went a long way to helping me out!)

If you're not a fan of YouTube-style Flash videos, Revver has the option of streaming videos in Quicktime format. And you can download them as .mov files, so you can hear my dulcet tones (har har) any time you like.

I've also posted my weekly Photoshop tip at www.zombienirvana.com. This week it's all about layer masks; once you've started using them, you'll never use your eraser again!
