[ZNG] FCAP #13 now available!

ZombieButch

First Post
After a two-week vacation, Fantasy Cartography with Adobe Photoshop is back! In this action-packed episode, we'll start a new map by creating a background and saving it as an Action.

You can check out all the FCAP episodes at Revver , YouTube, or via iTunes or Miro .

Don't forget to visit ZombieNirvana.com for this week's show notes and for more information on my upcoming Fantasy Cartography book.

Until next time, thanks for listening, and happy mapping!

These are really cool. I'm just wondering, was there a reason why you didn't emboss the clouds layer before doing the hue saturation as well as make it part of the action? Is there something cool/different you're going to do with it later?

Like I said in the show, for this map I don't really want the background to call attention to itself and distract from the map. On the last one, the background was really part of the map; it was intended to look like a map that'd been drawn on a piece of paper that'd become crumpled and colored with age. This time it's just there to provide a more neutral backing for the map, so short of a bit of tweaking once the map's done I won't be doing anything more with it.

Whenever possible I want to try to cover new ground with each new map I'm covering in the show, too, so I didn't want to just make it a carbon copy of the background from the first couple of episodes!
