well I am completely unprepaired with firearms, but I have I copy of the zombie survival handbook and enough details sunk in to have some possiblility of survival.
My homes not bad either, short on food, but 3 stories,with only a garage and entry on the first. floor. If I took out the stairs with my circular saw? Zombies would have a hella time getting in. I would prolly be one of the small unarmed groups with a few zombies around. Depending on severity of the outbreak. If I tried to make it to the mountains I would have more to fear from other more wilderness savy, better armed humans than zombies.
