PHB3: Random stuff that doesn't merit a full post

Obryn

Hero
(1) For the Runepriest, I'm not understanding the Rune of Destruction under the Rune Master class feature.

"Allies gain a +1 bonus to attack rolls against enemies that are adjacent to you or to any other runepriests who are in this rune state."

Is the italicized phrase just unnecessarily tacked-on? (I mean, of course they get a +1 if they're next to another RP in Rune of Destruction!) Or does it mean there's a cumulative effect? If so, how's this work with the unnamed bonus stacking rules?

(2) Battlemind L13 Brutal Barrage is hilarious if you have Hammer Rhythym.

(3) Ardent L7 Forward-Thinking Cut. Special: When charging, you can use this power unaugmented as a melee basic attack. Augment 1: Effect: If you make a charge attack with this power, you can shift 1 square before the charge. Ummmm.... I thought I could only do that unaugmented? :)

Any other little things you're noticing?

I'd think that was added to show that they don't stack... I think.

There's a paragon path for rune-priests that basically makes them a defender. Just thought that was funny.

Yes they will have to do something about hammer rhythm.

I think they meant that more permissivly then restrictively for the charge attack. Meaning "when you are using this power you can use it as a charge" Not "only while unaugmented, this power can be used as a charge". The unaugmented part only serves to clarify that you don't HAVE to use it augmented to charge with it.

It's funny but not really overpowered at all. Not having a damage die really kills a power (especially a multi-hit power), comparable powers will be near or better in damage even after factoring in accuracy.

Correct. Also, don't forget that even if the power hits, since it's a static damage number and not a damage roll, most things that give you static damage bonuses (like enhancement bonuses and Weapon Focus) don't apply. So the damage output of this power really is not excessively high.

Although one interesting thing is that with this power and Hammer Rhythm, you do essentially the same amount of (average) damage regardless of the type and enhancement bonus of your weapon! (Assuming that the weapon works with Hammer Rhythm.)

Another thing I just found:

Mindlink Strike (Ardent Attack 7, page 29): The "Augment 2" version of the power has a Hit line but no Attack line.

Energizing Strike (Ardent Attack 1, page 25): The Augment 1 version of this seems incredibly good: For (effectively) half of an encounter power cost you can pop a dying ally back up without even spending a surge? Seems pretty handy. And the hilarious thing is that if you're having a hard time hitting an enemy with it, you can even target the ally you want to heal - you'll probably hit because he's helpless, and as long as your attack won't take him below negative bloodied he will get the hit points you took off right back (since when you heal from dying you start from zero). (Although this might fall under the "bag-o-rats" rule.)

Not to mention there's most likely a better place to put that 14 than Str...
I'm not positive about this... While I agree you're doubling up on Fortitude, if you want any weapon-based feats at all, you will likely need Strength somewhere in here.

Strength isn't a dump stat for anyone using weapons, honestly.
