Abbil-Belern’s two training patrols are out with a pair of regular patrols. The Captain has recently arrived with his lieutenants. Caliban, your patrol leader is going over battle positioning and reviewing the handsigns that allow you to communicate as if you could have full discussions in another place entirely
The patrol groups are spaced out in a large cavern, several days travel from the Vault of the Drow. The company has used this cave before, and bedrolls were pulled from a hidden compartment. Caliban led you to a small alcove off one side of the cavern.
The alcove is 15’ wide and 10’ deep, with the spider crammed into a back corner. Half way up the wall.
Without warning the cavern begins to shake and the ceiling collapses with a thunderous roar!
Caliban was just outside the alcove, he leaps for the alcove left wall but is pinned under a boulder, and half buried in loose rocks.
Drisdaun and Rantyr are both injured by debris.
As a few rocks continue to fall, You hear a voice in undercommon: “Now finish off the survivors, and collect our trophies.”

An answer arrives from Rantyr on the cavern floor.
"If you would but look, dear Drisdhaun, you would have your answer," he says sarcastically.
Rantyr retrieves himself from the ground, several scratches visible on his face and a bit of blood streaming near his wrist where he caught his fall.
"Blasted rocks."
OOC: Initiative 8, if needed (For some reason I put -1 instead of +5 into the roller, which is why invisible castle says 2 and not 8 (I must have been looking at perception)

Javilex rolls over and throws his hands up over his face to cover his head as the shaking and crashing thunders through the caverns. For the several seconds as the collapse echoes and echoes, he lies sprawled on his bedroll right below where Saereth hangs on the wall. "What is the blazes is going on?!?" he shouts over the din.
Once the rockfall draws to a close and the voice bellows out, the drow scrambles to his feet and grabs ahold of his large curved blade, taking it lightly in both hands. He gives a high-pitched whistle, and immediately the tarantula scrambles down the wall and stops by his side.
"The report would be one of trouble, I'd say." Javilex replies.

Vorgrym was spreading his own bedroll out, when the cavern began to shake and the ceiling collapsed. Leaping nimbly to his feet, he draws his blades, covering his mouth and nose with his sleeve until the dust settles. "I'm fine, here."

The ceiling collapse appears total, with the entry to the alcove filled with a virtual wall of stone and earth. Through the wall you can hear muted violence but nothing distinct. Digging through the blockage could take minutes or hours depending on the extent of the collapse on the other side.
In your small alcove the crushed Caliban gives a long moan of pain.
The last of the flying debris strike Drisdhaun and Nashquiri, while Javilex seems to have gotten back out of the way. The dust begins to settle.
Djaar presses up against the front wall of the alcove, with good cover from the entrance, he doges a rock that rolls at him.
Javilex squeezes into the corner.
OOC: Reflex attacks: 7,8, Djaar 14(miss), Drisdhaun 15 (4 damage) Nashquri 19 (11 dmg) ; Javilex – safe.
row 1 is difficult terrain, the corner space is a squeeze.

Drisdhaun takes a brief moment to recover his senses (second wind healing 5, standard action) and glances at Nashqri, who is reeling from the debris that hit him "Steel youself Nashqri, the patrol has need of your strength this day" he signs (Inspiring word Nashqri can heal a healing surge +6) and moves forward into the debris (move one square forward and to the right to giving Vorgrym the space to move).
He kneels to examine Calibans wounds.

Steadying himself after the final collapse, the wizard leans against the wall, taking heart at Drisdhaun. "Do not fear, you can't get rid of me that easily." Nashquiri says with a wry grin.
He awaits the results of Vorgrym's search before deciding on his next course of action.
Vorgrym, you don't see any other exits with your quick check around, and begin moving rocks.
No one else sees anything obvious either.
Drisdhaun it looks bad.

Yeah that's a broken spine, no words of encouragement will allow him to walk again. Its even beyond most clerics. The best you could do is keep him from dying immediately, although trying it will make excavation difficult.

With him squeezed in the back corner space, Javliex realizes there's not much he can do from back here, other than gather the rocks underneath himself to keep them out of the way.
"As you begin clearing the stones, pass them back to me here in the alcove. I'll pile them up here so you have more space up front."
Drisdhaun attempts to make Caliban as comfortable as possible in the situation then looks at the remainder of the patrol. "Javilax," he asks, "if we make an opening in the rubble large enough for Saereth would you be able to send him outside to scout?"

A fter Drisdhaun asks him his question, Javilex furrows his brow and then glances upward at his pet. "Yes, I suppose he could... but there's not much he'd be able to tell us. He's not intelligent you know."
He shrugs as he thinks on it a second longer. "Of course, if we hear the sounds of clanging metal... that might give you an indication that there's someone out there and he's trying to kill Saereth."
You begin making progress with the rocks. The rocks begin to pile up in the back corner, but the shifting of the pile doesn't do Caliban any good. With one last groan Caliban falls silent, his fingers scratching at the dirt and rubble, his fingers curling into stiff claws and going motionless.
The fighting continues for a little while, perhaps just over a minute. Then it falls quiet out there.
Only a short time after that Nashquiri and Rantyr feel a prickling of their flesh,
Nashquiri places it first as a warping of mystical energies, someone is performing a ritual nearby.

althletics, endurance and dungoneering can all be used for the digging.
Is Javilex active enough for his own roll or just aiding another?

Vorgrym did his best to take the rocks from the best areas, hoping not to cause the area to collapse more. From all his martial training his body was strong. Even the large rocks were of little trouble to the warrior.
