Final words...

First Post
Kae gives a start at the sudden violence, but her shocked expression soon changes to a grin as she realizes that her plan worked perfectly. Best not to even think about what would have happened if she'd gone with her original plan and carried the Messenger herself. She'd rather thought that the thugs would have been interested in taking their targets in alive... but it appears not.

Still, best not to stand around patting herself on the back for too long. Not waiting to salvage what's left of the Messenger, she bolts back towards her support. Looks like they have their own problems, but even so she'll be safer amidst them than standing out in the open on her own. She moves cautiously though, doing her best to weave through the foot traffic and avoid presenting an easy target.

[sblock=OOC] Move 30' to join the others. Total Defense for AC 20.

Could Kae make out where the bolts came from, or at least guess at their trajectory from where they hit the Dwarf? It ain't easy to remain hidden while shooting (DC+20 on the Hide check...) so I'm hoping that unless we're horribly outmatched she'll have a good idea of where the snipers are.[/sblock]

Finishing Round 1!

Lorinal's kick is a critical threat, but it is not confirmed.
The mook takes two more points of damage.

Screams now break out from near Kae and the rest of the party.
People are starting to run away from each location. The crowd has dissipated enough that there's running and charging available as options, but there's no automatic cover.

The cab sees a small war going on under it and speeds up the walkway, towards Kae.
Apparently it doesn't need to land that badly.

Rethlin's blow hits the mook.
The mook does not fall, but looks like he wants to run away.

Starting Round 2

Starting round 2

Kae moves towards the rest of the party in a low crouch, using the railing for cover.
She will rejoin the rest of the party and can get anywhere near them she wants, but she's got no attacks.

As she runs she catches a glimpse of three cloaked figures on the balcony of a tower opposite the drop and a little above them. They might be about 150 feet away, shooting prone through the gaps in the balcony.

Zook casts Command on the bleeding mook.
Mook save vs. Comman (1d20-1=4)
The mook bends to his mighty gnomish will.

The bleeding mook flings himself on the ground and begs for mercy.
The plea is cut short when a triple-edged crossbow bolt with green fletchings slams into the back of his neck, killing him.
green triple bolt crossbow shot (1d20+10=29)
critical confirmation (1d20+10=11)
No confirmation
Damage (1d10=6)
(Technically, he's at -5 and bleeding out.)

The other mook, having been graphically reminded of the consequences of surrender, swings his sap at Rethlin desperately.
Mook sap on Rethlin (1d20+3=20, 1d6+1=5)
He connects for five points of subdual damage.

Two more crossbow bolts fly through the air, aimed for Zook and Rethlin.
light crossbow shots (1d20=18, 1d20=20)
Zook is hit, even with cover.
Zook damage (1d8=1)
But even for Zook, it's a flesh wound - 1 point.

Rethlin has a critical threat.
It does not confirm.
light crossbow (1d8=5)
He takes 5 points of damage.

Veyk is up, then Lorinal/crowds, then Rethlin.

Round #2 post for Rethlin, whose turn is coming up shortly.

The two injuries combine to stagger Rethlin. He takes a 5-ft step back (no action) and spontaneously converts Divine Favor to Cure Light wounds (standard action). Silverly fire surrounds his hand as he completes the spell. He touches the bolt wound and it closes, the bolt dropping to the ground.

"By the grace of the Flame..."

Rethlin Cure Light Wounds (1d8+1=9)

OOC: Ouch, take it easy, Rethlin is only 1st level ;) Anyways, his healing spell cures all of the lethal damage and an equal amount of non-lethal, so he is back at full.

When Veyk stabs the mook, he grunts in pain, but does not fall.

Rethlin's action is noted.

Lorinal, the civilians, and the cab are next.

While we're waiting for Lorinal...

The cab speeds past and over Kae, touching down by the corpse of her erstwhile escort.

The civilians keep running. Some of them have had time to think about screaming for help.
There is now no crowd cover near the fight.

Anyone wishing to take cover -- at least from the crossbows -- may still use the railing by moving adjacent to it. Further protection from the crossbows may be found by dropping prone.

That leaves one a bit vulnerable to the last mook with the sap, of course.
