Opening up the OOC thread. Obviously, this is for out-of-character discussion. Given the nature of dice-rolling, there will likely be a lot of conversation going on here to set the dice pools and display the rolls.

History: The Sarlacc is a re-purposed interstellar tug that Rumko Wun purchased as military surplus following the ascension of the Galactic Empire. Stripping out the two low-power tractor beams, Rumko had the power supply upgraded and the wiring re-routed to accommodate a high power small tractor beam in the starboard arm. The port span was modified to rotate 90 degrees to create a work platform with manipulator arms from which the ship's engineer, in a vacuum suit, would be able to strip useful components from space debris tractored to the ship before transporting the components inside the ship's cargo hold. The aqualish also added a triple light laser canon turret to the dorsal side of the vessel to help keep "pirates" at bay.

Background
Krallatan was born in the Outer Rim, the only offspring of a small Wookie family, the father a merchant pilot / teamster / space truck driver and the mother an accountant. Krallatan's mother, Barasha was hired by Rumko Wun to keep his books and keep certain shadier aspects of the business concealed from taxing authorities and especially law enforcement authorities. To keep the loyalty of Barasha, Rumko Wun 'generously' offered to pay for her son's, Karaltten's, training as a pilot. Krallatan was already a competent starship mechanic, but with some training as a pilot, Rumko Wun was able to make him an offer that neither he nor his mother could refuse, and station him as on-board mechanic and back-up pilot on the Secondhand Sarlacc. This gives Rumko Wun leverage over both his accountant, Barasha, and also, conversely, leverage over Krallatan, who is very devoted to his mother and concerned for her well-being. Krallatan's father, Derwaarr, went missing while piloting an ore freighter ten months ago, so his loss is still fresh for both Krallatan and Barasha.

An older model of LE-VO law enforcement druid which someone has hastily repainted in an ochre paint scheme. They have also added a red mouth filled with jagged white teeth to its domed head. It has clearly seen a lot of action, as the paint has been scratched, chipped and carbon scored in a number of places.
It vocabulates in a highly modulated gender-neutral voice, reminiscent of a slightly less harsh dalek, and has an unfortunate habit of calling wookiees "fuzzballs" (when being polite)...

[sblock="Background:"]LE-G8R-VO was constructed as one of the first batch of production LE-VO droids. Sold and stationed on one of the numberless outer rim worlds, its initial service was short lived after the extreme behavioural inhibitors against violence in the earliest models resulted in a number of programming conflicts and unfortunate incidents. Though most of the initial batch were scrapped, a few were deactivated and sold - LE-G8R-VO being one of these lucky few.

When LE-G8R-VO was next reactivated, it found itself facing an ochre skinned Trandoshan, who it instinctively knew was its new master Aash'rak. "What do we have here?", Aash'rak hissed in Trandoshan, more to himself than to the droid. When it replied, "LE-G8R-VO, law enforcement droid, ready to receive orders", as proscribed by its programming, Aash'rak seemed to think for a minute before breaking into a broad toothy grin and saying with an odd rasping hiss - which LE-G8R-VO would come to learn was a laugh - "Yesss, that will do perfectly!"

After a hasty paint job - to make it look more 'Doshan as Aash'rak explained - LE-G8R-VO spent the next few years travelling the galaxy assisting Aash'rak to hunt down and bring in bounties. Although Aash'rak initially saw LE-G8R-VO's inhibitors against violence as a setback, he eventually came to appreciate that the number of targets brought in alive saw a dramatic increase, resulting in a commensurate increase in payment. It surprised LE-G8R-VO how much overlap there was between its original law enforcement purpose and its new life hunting down bounties, and it seemed a natural at the job.

All good things eventually come to an end. Aash'rak accepted a bounty on a human by the name of "Mack Granger", some sort of terrorist troublemaker. Although LE-G8R-VO was never privy to the details of the bounty, which were always handled by Aash'rak, it took particular pride in the fact that this bounty would be making the galaxy a safer place for citizens. Mack unfortunately proved to be more than a match for Aash'rak and LE-G8R-VO.

When LE-G8R-VO was next reactivated, it found itself facing both Mack and an Aqualish, who it instinctively recognised as its new master Rumko Wun. After a bit of questioning by Mack and Rumko about the bounty on Mack - something it knew very little about - it was ordered by it's new master to provide labour, some mechanical expertise and general security for Rumko's ship named the "Secondhand Sarlacc". The ship came with a furball aboard - presumably also owned by Rumko - to fly and maintain it. More recently Mack, the furball and it were joined by a young human female. LV-G8R-VO does not see what value she adds to the crew, as it seems she cannot shoot, pilot, fix or lift anything. It supposes time will tell, as its new master must have a reason for wanting to keep her aboard...[/sblock]

Background:

Arsinoe Anjuliz is the daughter of a wealthy retired Corellian admiral, Imperial senator (until dissolution), and now member of the Corellian Corporation. An aspiring and up and coming ingénue in the Corellian dance scene, she was engaged to her older brother’s best friend Sabin. Unknown to the family, Sabin was in gambling debt up to his eyeballs with Blota the Hutt. Blota happened to fancy himself a cultural connoisseur and, after finding out who Sabin’s fiancée was, made an offer: clear the debt without any broken body parts in exchange for Arsinoe. At a private little romantic dinner Sabin drugged her and called in Blota’s goons. En route to Blota the ship hit an ion storm and was knocked out of hyperspace and crashed on a primitive planet. She managed to survive only thanks to some strange, emerging powers. The drugs, combined with being banged around in stasis, has left her memory of events a bit fuzzy. The crew of the Secondhand Sarlacc found the wreckage, and the survivor, and aren’t sure yet what to do with the pampered young thing. She does seem pretty good at talking, and her being quite attractive doesn’t hurt when charming the creditors. Maybe with a bit of extra training she might be worth something out on the Rim. Or they could just give her to Blota.

Don't worry about tracking costs of incidentals like food and drink. If it ever becomes significant (landing on a planet with extremely limited resources, etc), I'll let you know.

In order to check Wun's message, you'll have to head back to the Sarlacc.
