Making his way to the front Corwin pulls out his tools and quickly disables the wire. He sees that it leads to a loosened spot on the ceiling that could cause a great deal of rock and earth to bury anyone so foolish as to have trip it. It is now safe to proceed and Magen retakes the lead.

Just a moment later the heroes round another corner where the tunnel leads into a large cave. The light from Megan's shield reflects off a small pool of water on the opposite end. Hundreds of bones and garbage has been haphazardly thrown about the room. There is also a large cauldron set up over a cold fire-pit near the pool and a number of man sized iron cages hanging from chains attached to the ceiling. Most are empty but a few appear to hold the remains of various creatures. It is hard to make out what without getting closer...

“That’s not a good sign,” Hunter whispers mostly to himself as he strains his eyes to see past the radius of the light.

"hmmm" Magen says, half in response to Hunter, "Perhaps some torches may be in order. Anyone need one?"

With his shield lit with Shara's magic Magen went ahead to scout, moving carefully to search the illuminated ground ahead of him.

Nothing stirs within the cave, at least nothing that Magen can make out. After the others light torches and spread out a bit they find an area off on one wall that is somewhat free of trash and bones where a number of soiled blankets and furs have been thrown over a bed of branches and leaves from the forest above. The cauldron contains some grayish slug at the bottom and smells even worst then the room does. Checking the cages the bodies inside seem to be those of large animals like deer and elk, but one appears to be a small humanoid covered in rags. Getting closer the figures eyes shot open and it screams "AAAAAAAAAAAA" at the top of its lungs which echo through the cave.

Shara is so startled by the sudden wailing that she practically jumps, but her fear turns to pity when she sees the source of the noise. She hurries toward the cage, not bothering to try and move quietly.

"Hey, shhh, it's ok, it's ok, we're not going to hurt you!" she says quickly. She tries to force a reassuring smile even though she's panicking internally about the noise. "It's ok now, I promise. Do you know how we can get you out?"

The figure continues to scream for almost a full minute before it seems to recognize that Shara is not in fact the hag. It then takes the small figure another full minute to control its breathing and bring it down from near hyperventilation. Then it only stares silently at the group, although its mouth opens and closes like it wants to talk but has forgotten how. Shara is still not complete sure what the figure is. It is filthy, covered in mud and dirty where its soiled and dirty rags are not covering its skin. She thinks it might be a human child or halfling but she can't be certain.

After it appears to get frustrated with trying to talk the figure points at the top of its cage where a large padlock can be seen near where the chain is attached.

Walking around the cave Hunter watched the cages with an uneasy feeling; if there was something else down here the creature in the cage would certainty have alerted it to their presence by now. Hunter wrinkles his nose at the smell and continues to look around the cave.
