Indeed, Rich has often said in the forums on his own site that any in-character reference to Vaarsuvius' sex is just an expression of that character's own belief, and the characters don't know any better than we do.

Well, if V's mate used a gender-specific pronoun to refer to V, then I think that would be definitive.

I would like to see V join team evil. Then maybe the monster in the dark can switch to team good to compensate, or one of the many other good characters may join the order.

After reading this I had a "Duh" moment. I thought V. was certainly going to be killed by Xykon, but now I realize the Monster in the Dark is going to do something to save V (because of the previous issue).

'Cause that's the only way that V. doesn't because a zombie of indeterminate gender.

I said that in my initial post. V lost due to story was my first conclusion. Worse, V was hit with a rock. From a lich. You know, the typical rock throwing lich. That in itself is so un-D&D I don't know what to think about it. I would have far preferred V be touched by Xykon for paralysis than a stupid rock throwing lich. If it never becomes important later to know Xykon wears some 1e/2e girdle of giant strength (that allows rock throwing), the rock was a complete WTF.
Rules should never, ever stand in the way of a good punchline.

Well, not necessarily... I think I recall the kids being adopted, so it's not a given that they've consummated their relationship and as the Order of the Stick has shown, it's quite possible to live with V for an extended period without ever learning the elf's gender.

"It's just a show, I should really just relax"

Here ya go!

The MST3K Mantra (warning: link takes you to the TVTropes site, which is highly addictive), full name: Mystery Science Theater 3000 Mantra, is simply: It's just a show, I should really just relax.

By substituting other words for "show", it can be applied to a variety of other issues that fans get wound up about, including edition wars, for example: It's just a game, I should really just relax. ;)

Thanks guys!

And, yes, TV Tropes can be addicting. I have been sucked into that black hole more than once.
