Garry listens to what Alnar has to say but seems to be distracted, concerned about something else entirely.

Luinnar said:
Now before we continue, who was that harpy I heard shouting after you?

Making sure no one else than the party is listening in, he answers. " she is the kind of woman that steals your fish in the morning, even though you have spend all night hunting it. And nobody likes to have their fish stolen...?! "

As if what he said made perfect sense, he assures the party that they have nothing to worry about...

"... but if you ever happen to bump into her, tell her that I left town, went to a place far, far, far, far, far away and you will have my eternal gratitude. When you do so, be sure to wear at least 3 inches of steel, just to be on the safe side "

[sblock=ooc]Welcome to the adventure Atriden! Nice RP in the Hanged Man to recruit Garry! Someone should probably indicate IC that they've brought Garry up to speed on the story thus far.[/sblock]
The barkeep appears distinctly irritated by all the commotion surrounding Raiko's exit, and the ensuing confusion of Bann-ur, Ferris, and Jezebel, who were left behind while Alnar went looking for more help. He gripes, "Look if you're staying you best order something. But, if I was you, I'd get over to that custom's office right quick like. If I know Berekis, he's feeling antsy to set sail with the checkers breathing down his neck. And besides I think you all have worn your welcome awful thin with some of my regular clientele."

The portly man jerks his thumb toward the back of the bar, in a gesture indicating the now distinctly hostile-looking Cap'n Harge and his crew, who are standing around glaring at you and whispering to each other.

Jezebel scratches under one of her horns while trying not to look too pleased at Raiko's departure. Still... it's a pity the Dragonborn didn't stay for the theft. It could have been a first step in convincing him that his vows are such trash. The barkeep's show of impatience snaps the Tiefling out of her good mood. What is it with this man? Is he trying to pick a fight? She turns to face him again.

"We wore out our welcome already, eh? That was quick. Not a record for me, but quick. Well, if you want us gone, why don't you tell us where Berekis is? Or the custom's office? Or both?"

"I told you missy, Berekis' ship the Swiftcurrent is anchored down at the inner harbor docks. She's at the long pull-in, pier number 5. Custom's office is only a couple blocks northwest of the inner harbor."

The barkeep eyes you shiftily for a moment, "Now if it was me, I'm not saying I've done anything like this before mind you, but if it was me and I was trying to help someone out with something less than legal, I think I'd be inclined to do the deed before going to meet them. See, if you don't get caught, and no one sees you talking to Berekis before you grab the papers, then there's no way to pin the crime on him, and he's liable to be extra grateful. But, that's only my opinion..."

His advice imparted, the chubby, grubby man returns to sullenly polishing a glass with a greasy cloth.

Alnar walks over to the party, obviously in a bad mood.

Hello party this is Garry, he is a druid with woman problems. I have filled him in on the situation. This is the plan:

1. We go now.
2. No killing unless the gates of the abyss open up and Jezebel's relatives start swarming through. (or anything of that kind).
3. No stealing anything except the papers.
4. Minimal property damage.

Anyone breaking any of rules 2-4 will have whats left of him or her thrown off the pier by ME.

Sound like a plan? I hope so because I want to get out of here before I break someone's jaw.

Ferris arches an eyebrow at Alnar as he finishes his rant...

Ahh, the impetuousness and overconfidence of Arcanists, always amusing... its nice to know some things don't change when one leaves Kythira.

"I also agree haste is prudent, and our friend the barkeep has made a useful suggestion. Meeting this captain with the papers we need already in our possession would make things easier."

To the Custom's Office

As your group sets out once more into the constantly blowing drizzle, you notice that, even though it is only late afternoon, the overcast sky and the steady rain have combined to make visibility very low. You plod on through the wet dark though, and soon draw near to the custom's office on Carenvale Blvd.

[sblock=ooc]I need a marching order now. Also, does the party want to rely on streetlamps alone, or would someone like to act as torch/sunrod bearer at this point?[/sblock]

Jezebel takes the lead once outside. She enjoys the cool rain against her skin, and she lets it show. "The gods favor us today. We could not ask for better weather to complete this task in." She turns to face the party, still walking backwards slowly. "Alnar, so I'm clear on the plan: we're just smashing in the front door and going in? I'd like to start planning on whether or not I can walk openly in the city after this."

[sblock=ooc]Proposed marching order
Jezebel
Ferris
Bann-ur
Alnar
Werewolf

My thinking is that Jezzy has the highest AC, so she can go in the front to soak attacks in case of an ambush.
Ferris has 5 speed and a melee weapon, so he needs to be close to the front.
Bann-ur has 6 speed, so he's next - he's also in the middle of the group so he can respond to an attack from any direction.
Next to last is Alnar because range is less important for him (he can acid orb until he gets close enough for burning spray).
Werewolf is rearguard since he has very good defenses and the fast runner feat; he can get to the front quickly if needed.

I'm fine with not using a light source quite yet. When we need one, I nominate Alnar to carry it. He is using a quarterstaff (two handed), but I doubt he'll ever need to attack with it.[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC] That marching makes sense and works for me. [/sblock]

Ferris grumbles about the rain as he follows Jezebel, his senses however quest about into the mirk around them.
