OOC: Yes, a round is 1 minute in AD&D, but that's walking/exploring speed. Running is twice that/minute, so 240 yards per round/minute, which is not exactly olympic track & field speeds, but also assumes heavier/sturdier footgear and a moderate load of adventuring equipment, too.

OOC: Anyway, Odo is up. :)

Odo follows Cam out the door and at the nearest ogre. He gives a good, hard swing with his mace. Argh!

OOC: Not a problem, thanks for the heads up! If you've vanished and we need an action for Odo, is it ok with you if I npc him, after giving you a decent amount of time (3-4 days?) to act for him?

OOC: Yeah, feel free.

Edit: Rhun - Tax season is the culprit though I am not an accountant. I do investments -- primarily real estate -- and April is property tax assessment season.

Odo rushes out of the Grolls' house to attack the nearest ogre, but misses. The ogre, in turn attacks Odo. A 9 to hit succeeds against AC:5, so exactly a hit for 10 hp damage. Odo falls to the earth under the monster's mighty blow, unconcious. [Sorry, JM!]

Seeing the good Brother fall to the ogre menace, Shiyana leaps over the dead body of ogre1 and strikes at ogre2 with her sanctified cudgel/war club.

"HYAH!" she cries in the ogre's direction.

"Leave this place and NEVER come back!" decries as she slams into the ogre.

Can she try to stave off Odo's wound with some mundane healing? If so, she will.

(does a roll of 20 mean I did double damage?!? I certainly hope so. In which case, damage is 6!)

OOC: Yes, Shiyana can bind Odo's wounds, but she might want to make sure the threat of the big, angry ogre is taken care of first. It is still standing there slavering and spewing foul invective at the moment. Until his wounds are bound, Odo will continue to lose 1 hp per round, with death occurring at -10 hp.

OOC: re-calculated -- 2nd ogre has 6 hp left at this point.

I did hit the ogre, first...or wasn't I clear about that? Is it still alive?

Then, Shiyana has no choice but to continue to battle the ogre...she very much hopes Camlin's next strike will bring it down so she might attend to Odo's wounds.

Imperialus

Explorer
Cam attempts to shift around so that he stands between the Ogre and Odo before swinging at it with his sword.

ooc: looking at the ogres HP total above I think he was at 12 HP when you and Odo took your shots at him so he was at 6 when Cam attacked. I would guess he's still on his feet and swaying with 1 HP left.

Rhun

First Post
Turthain fires another volley of arrows at the ogre, aiming OVER his companions' heads. However, in his attempts not to hit his friends, his arrows go wide.

OOC: According to my calculations and re-calculations, Imperialus is correct and the 2nd ogre has a mere 1 hp remaining after Cam's attack. (And Turthain's misses.)

OOC: Cam is able to get between the ogre and the fallen Odo. Odo continues to bleed and drops from -2 to -3 hp.

The ogre swings a ham fist at Camlin now, grrr, but misses the Ranger this time.

[sblock=missiles fired at melee participants]
From page 63 of the DM Guide:

"If one opponent group is significantly larger than the other, accurate
missiles which have a small area of effect can be directed at the larger
opponent group with great hope of success. You may assign a minor
chance of the missile striking a friend if you wish, but this writer, for
instance, always allows archery hits to hit a gaint or a similar creature
engaged against a human or smaller opponent."

I put ogres at the threshold of the 'giant-like' category, but that's close enough, so there's no chance of hitting Camlin as long as he's the only friendly engaging the ogre. Even if more join the melee, the chance will be only about 5% to hit an ally.
