It shot first!

It is an investment, in 10 to 30 more years someone may pay millions for it but even if it does not it is likely to offer a good return in value.

If I were a multi-millionaire, I'd buy that for sure. As it is, I'm only a few million away from being a multi-millionaire.

I love that it says "non-firing".

The blaster is exactly in its original filming condition and therefore exhibits wear from use, but retains all of the original details, including the flash suppressor and scope

A flash suppressor ... on a laser blaster ... Yeah, Lucas is a real genius.

Sounds like sour grapes. 99% of the people on this forum would pay money for this item. Hell, I bet many people here would pay $10 to just hold it for a few seconds. Just because most people who would pay money for something can't afford the listed price doesn't mean those that do have enough money and will pay it lack sense. Like Morrus said, I'd pay that much for it, if I had that much around as hobby money.

We pay a lot of money for our silly hobbies, that others outside would consider of little sense.

The listing specifies that because there is another version of the prop that does fire -- that one was built from a real, functional pistol.

Lucas didn't build the pistol, nor did he label its parts. In fact, I've never seen that piece on the muzzle ever labled/called a flash suppressor other than in the boing boing article, so the "flash suppressor" may be only from the author there.

The reaction in this thread makes me shake my head. Why so negative?

No.

Cause it is just an old piece of plastic. It has no value (maybe a few cents worth of plastic?) aside from the value people give it and that value is totally irrational.
