this is what kids are watching?

You're trying to tell me GI Joe had well written plots? next you'll be saying that He-Man was a complex protagonist with a well developed personality

Adventure Time is surprisingly complex: the post-post-apocalyptic land of Ooo mutated after total nuclear annihilation, where a simple boy and his best friend the magic dog try and survive and form romantic relationships with a host of interesting princesses whilst dealing with the tragic figure of the Ice King who along with the vampire queen Marceline actually link back to the age before the The Great Mushroom War.

Even better it has a ton of DnD references

NB: You need to see I Remember You (season 4) which imho is one of the best tragic stories ever in a cartoon show - it made me cry:)

i feel like i need to apologize for starting this thread.

i posted my critique of adventure time shortly after learning that a wonderful acquaintance of mine had lost her battle with colon cancer. as a result i may not have been in the best frame of mind to post my thoughts on a show of which i'd watched only two episodes. as a result i judged the show too quickly and harshly.

my apologies to everyone. i'll give adventure time another chance.

Apology happily accepted.

And, to be perfectly fair to you, there are a lot of horrible shows for kids these days. Barney is still on the air. The newest seasons of Thomas the Tank Engine have taken such a downturn that it's scary. And Caillou. Just.... Caillou.

Well, magic in a way. Why he's magically stretchy winds up being veeery worrisome after the it gets explained.

Loved the ep where this art gets a reference.

BTW, When a show airs in the evening on a cable network, even if it's animated, don't expect it to be for kids of all ages.
