D&D 4E A gathering of Martial Controllers - what do you think

I'm going to start on the powers. I'll post 'em in the thread, and add them to the original post...

Spinning Halberd Fighter 1
You spin your weapon around, attacking with both ends. No one is safe.
Requirement: You must be using a spear or a pole-arm with reach
At-Will
Standard Close Burst 1
Targets: Enemies in burst you can see
Attack: STR vs AC
Hit: 1[W] + STR damage - 1 per enemy targeted.

Is the weapon type limit strictly needed..

It reminds me of how even though most of Swordmages powers / class features worked regardless of weapon type they botched a few by making it strictly swords.

I think the core warlord should have MORE controller abilities more using the enemy against themselves more suckering the bad guys in to moving where you want them and that seems valuable and appropriate even without a specialization in it.
Well, if you go the E-style sub-class, you could swap out Inspiring Word and have a special Commanding Presence that enhance Warlord exploits to be more controller-y, /and/ add new Warlord exploits that work well with those features, while slipping the core Warlord some new, secondary-controller exploits...

Aren't there already a couple powers that are pretty much like this? I'm not sure what makes this one 'controllery'. I personally hate the "area attacks are control" meme. Its PARTLY true, but JUST being a multi-target power, especially a close one like this, doesn't create control.

How about if instead if it did minimal damage and instead slowed the targets? Flavor it as you kneecap them all. NOW its more like some control.

Well spreading around the minion lawn mowing duties... a duty arguably implied to be a fighters in earlier editions too.

Imperious Presence was a name thought ... its sort of like a lesser form of the Enchanters benefit.

But it would combine with Brutal Manipulator for a damage bonus on powers that move enemies or cause them to attack their allies.

I was thinking a Strategic presence, for all the tactical things (like Own the Battlefield) that'd be too controller-y for the leader Warlord to have a lot of.

I also feel like the Controller Warlord could go in big for Schrodinger's powers. Plans not in evidence 'coming together.' Pre-arranged signals never mentioned in character before. Having just the right piece of specialized equipment at just the right time... etc.

Strategic sure connects to Schrodingers powers LOL

Yeah, that's awesome. I love that kind of stuff.
