Pathfinder 1E [INTEREST/RECRUIT] - Crowns of Ice

Well, since everyone is going to end up at Grandael (as far as decisions go, at least) I'd like to do a pseudo-prologue with you, so you get acquainted with the place and the others get to include details I might have missed. That way, I don't have to overload everyone with descriptions and your character gets to introduce the others to the current state of things without my intrusion. We'd do it as a bit of Arvid's past, of course, as he pursued his rivals. Something short, of course. It would help me test some ideas as well, before we get to the meat of the game. What do you think?

Ok, a few pointers, now that the preparations are coming to an end:

1) Would you guys prefer to warn me as you finish preparations, or should I start with some DM posts, to make the transition lighter? Everything is ready and waiting!

2) Since the game might become brutal at some point, I’d suggest we get very meticulous about magic and combat rules, so no one suffers unfair losses. There are some additions I’ve made, but bear in mind that I’ve tried to keep coherence with game elements we already have.

3) The inclusions are made so we can have a more grounded, faithful and surprising environment. As usual, I’ll adapt things if need be.

4) Also, consider having backup chars. You might even add them as NPC’s, if you wish. I don’t think it’s going to be a slasher out there, but, just in case…

5) As for a high-fantasy or low-fantasy setting, I’ve decided to bend towards low-setting, after seeing the way you guys defined magic and unnatural happenstances. This gives spellcasting chars some advantage, and invites others to try and harness such powers – or give the semblance they did so (again, you guys did it, hehe).

6) For the most part, I’ll try to work with your own interpretations and rule definitions. The less I have to influence things, the best. At least, that’s my standard measurement for a game that goes well.

7) What you did so far is amazing! I’ll work hard to keep my end of things as entertaining as yours has been to me!

1. We're almost done, I think - we need to finish up the roles - and since Thorir will not be hidden I have to find another way to show them my alter ego.
Astrid will have a night visitor I think

2. Brutal is good, challenging and we're all adults - given Astrids backstory, someone squeemish would run away - but you could post additions if there are details we should know
4. that's extreme I like Hagadark, but I'm more into melee types - I might try vivisectionist / feral mutagen (real werewolf) - or go some caster types after monk and vigilante

1. I think we're finishing up here. I don't know how specific you need us to be with plans but if you don't need us to be super specific, then I think we're ready.

2. Are you going to be giving us a set of rules? That might be good to have now - it probably would have been good to have when we made our characters

4. If I'm being *totally* honest, I don't know that I would make another character for the game. I have a lot invested in this one, and it'd be difficult to make another one in this universe. I'm not saying no, I'm just saying I don't know if I could. Just so that's out there.

5. That's cool. I know some lands are more supportive of magic users. When I went with Witch, it was under the impression of Witches being revered in some places. But, like Alec has this mysterious dragon's blood magic, Astrid falls under that guise too so...
