Morgrym wiped the blood from his axe and looked on the orcs disdainfully, even moreso as the orc leader performed what was clearly a sacrifice to the large male, who devoured the blood eagerly.

“Nae, we dunnae need t’ sully the air wi’ the foul stench o’ orc,” the smelly dwarf dismissed disdainfully.

“I can toss a few firebolts an’ storm bursts, but it’d be better if we cuild get it t’ come t’ ground where we can hack it t’ pieces. Or I cuild provide some cover f’r a retreat in the mist. I dunnae wish t’ leave the dwarves t’ be slaughtered, though.”

OOC: Is the dwarven army breaking? Is the battle lost?

Marius thinks hard on how to ambush the draconic creature before it can pick them one by one from the air. And comes up empty. At least there is some mist so it may not have a clear target.
"It seems the beast does't care about sides, it is on a rampage. Let's get all the dwarves at one place. They can go to ground so to speak rather than run separately and be an easy prey."

To the orc shaman:
"You're not full orc and most of your hunters aren't either. Who sent you? And why? Not to look gift horses teeth, but your coming seems, well, convenient. Oh, and thank you for the help. We are wary and for good reason as we were betrayed once already. And surrounded by the snakes, you can see how your arrival seems...erm...strange."

[sblock=Dwarven]
"Mourgrym, did you understand what he told his group?"

OOC: @KahlessNestor, Mourgryms PC sheet is not available on RG anymore.

Morgrym spat into the dust. “No,” he answered Marius in Dwarven. “I don’t speak filthy orc!”

He looked around the battlefield. “Aye, tha’ thing ain’t breathin’ fire or anythin’,” he said. “If we get th’army t’ stay t’gether in a group, keep th’archers ready, we c’n defend ourselves better. Still might lose a lot o’ soldiers,” he admitted. “Need th’archers t’ focus on the flyin’ lizard an’ not the saurians. Might ‘ave t’ quit the field f’r tha’, get behind some walls.”

Mhuagra listens to the shaman's pleas with a strong countenance. Inflexible, she points out to the body she just consumed. "It has to fall by your hands, shaman. Dedicate the dead to me, and I'll take them." - she moves forward, staring at the dwarves that take flight. She studies the battlefield, but remains silent.

Amidst the dust and smoke, the towering figure of the wyvern can be seen advancing against both infantries, right before glancing towards the general direction of Marius' shouts. The dwarven shield wall resists, despite the crude fight that evolves. The cavalry can only be glimpsed through it's banners, agitating themselves against the serpent lines in the distance.

The gargantuan creature roars once more as it spreads it's wings, clawing the armies as it flies over them!

[@KahlessNestor, the dwarves resist, despite the odds, but all three units are forcefully engaged. They won't last, though, considering that pressure over them increases at an alarming pace!]

[@Metavoid, I'd say that tour alignments aren't set in stone. In this particular world, alignments would be mainly the reflections of your character's psyche and personal ideologies. In other words, there are shades of gray that you might work with. Still, is sacrifice within such shades of gray? Consider that actions of a more radical tone might force you to change you alignment at the very least (in other cases might lead to the loss of a class altogether). As for the true existence of such metaphysical concepts, well... Yes, they have a real impact, but that will differ according to class, race, beliefs, general postures... So I'll let that debate to the scholars. Should you choose to act in evil ways, go for it! But remember to roleplay the conflict it will bring out. In the end I might even throw some wisdom rolls in, to help you define certain... consequences, hehe. ]

"I...I cannot think of anything that brings it down except for one thing. We need to show it the...the secret. Agreed?"

[sblock=Draconic]
"Worm, let the armies fight, come and get some!"
[/sblock]

"I know now all agree with the strategy, but I'm trying to call it off the dwarves. Be ready if it decides I taunted it enough."

OOC: KahlessNestor, what do you think? Would Mourgrym fight to save the dwarves?
Archon Basileus, if the thing doesn't react I'm going in.

Orc shaman looks at the fleeing snake people and decides that many good dwarves are worth a smudge on his spirit. He may even end up with reputation of holyness among orcs, as if one set of tattoos isn't enough.

Directing his people in orcish, they move as efficent combat machine, archers targeting legs to slow down, warriors herding those fleeing into groups. Fleeing snakes trying to avoid conflict avoid threatening warriors and veer aside. Wherever they group together in three or more, there is another flash of cold. Those that just try to avoid the warriors are subject to remorseless chops from the great sword of tattooed monster, doing his business in almost mechanical way, without joy for the battle.

Opposed to that, Ho-og gives himself over completely and soon, he's covered in gore even if he is supposed to herd them toward the shaman. On the other hand, Mhuagra has nothing against violence and he is pure-blooded orc. Maybe she accepts a sacrifice or two from him.

“Show it the secret?” Morgrym asked Marius with surprise. “Are ye sure, lad?” He glanced at the wyvern and the dwarven armies. “‘e ain’t th’only one whose attention we’d attract,” he reminded. Still, they had to help the dwarves. “If ye really think sae…”

Morgrym reached into his armor and pulled out the dagger.

HAGADARK

The orcs begin their bloody task, slowing down potential victims for the shaman to slay. As arrows, blades and bombs fulfill their purposes, the fallen enemies become the target of Tugg-Mhuagra's terrifying hunger. The spirit sates her own thirst with the dark, thick humours of the fallen, her eyes burning bright once more as she regains her strength. She turns to the group, her mouth and chest stained by dripping blood, "I am ready. Remember this day, for I charge you all with the task I once gave to the shaman: you will return me to my people as soon as this ends. We are bound..." - her cruel eyes rest particularly upon Morgrym, as if they mocked the dwarf for the uncanny alliance just formed.

[Ok, after a bit of number-crunching, she gets twelve levels from the carnage, plus one she had before. I'm assuming you'd either focus fire or kill weaker enemies, the result being capped basically on account of available time. You can decide what spells she'll use. Just remember to consider the casting time. She's under your control, as all other orcs. She won't, however, engage in physical combat, no matter what happens.]

MORGRYM/MARIUS

The dagger flickers against the distant fires as Morgrym's thick hand envelops it. The blade shines unusually, in a way it did not before. Under these dark skies, it seems invigorated with power, almost as if returned to a pristine state. If once it seemed rusted away by the waves, now any craftsman would say it was recently forged. The blade's perfect proportions and impeccable balance are a thing to behold, impossible to achieve even by the most skilled dwarven artisans. The cold desert wind mixes up all battle impressions and, for a second, the companions are struck by the hypnotic phantasm of the Enslaver. And as it is greeted by sand and warmth, smoke and mist, ice and sound, the blade emanates a faint glow, singing to the surrounding darkness.

The group awakens as the towering image of the wyvern flies out of the smoke, leading a band of snake warriors with terrifying commands, yielded in draconian! The beast's eyes shine as hot coals, it's mouth roars pestilence and death! And as it approaches, ready to charge in it's flight, the blade responds. It beckons the wyvern, as much as the wyvern wants it!

"MY SOOOOULLLLL!" - he cries, his draconian voice tearing the fields apart! "MY soul is SHACKLED! GIVE ME THE BLAAAADE! |I WILL BE FREEEEEEE!" - It rises with a quick, brutal flap of it's wings, and it plunges against the heroes, relentless!

[Ok, Wyvern charges from the air! Neurotic, it can move before and after the attack it makes, with full flight speed, either vertically or horizontally; I'll consider that every square up or down demands the same amount of moves that it would if it was horizontal. Also, remember that it moves a lot more than 30' a turn! I'll post the mini-sheets after you all give me the INITIATIVE! Shayuri, feel free to position yourself wherever you prefer!]

Shayuri

First Post
From behind some of the rocks on the north edge of the field, a figure steps forth. Tall and slim, in a flowing gown of deep crimson and interlaced bands of gold that seemed ill-suited for a battlefield. Her features were concealed as yet by the hood of her cloak...a yellow hue slightly darkened by the elements, with a complex pattern of red embroidery that twisted along it like angular, stylized roots and branches.

She had waited for the appropriate moment. With magic, picking the moment was vital. Had she been fighting all this time, her power would long since have been expended. Even if she had used her crossbow, she'd have made a target of herself and would most likely have been overrun or too engaged to cast safely now.

Instead, Shayuri was free and clear, her power at its zenith...and she had a straight shot at the descending, maddened wyvern.

She lifted a hand and spoke in a siblant, guttural voice not so different than the wyvern's itself, if powered by vastly smaller lungs.

(Shay begins at AC6, with init [roll0], and will cast Scorching Ray at yon wyvern using the rolls in the OOC thread that I threw out there back when I thought I'd be joining immediately. :))

OOC: This IS joining immediately, you didn't wait for three or more months :)

"I don't know if it is good idea, Mourgrym, just the best I have to give the dwarves a fighting chance. Now look at those beasts, cutting down fleeing combatants...at least their leader controls them enough that they are avoiding the dwarves. See if you can turn some of them back. And hide the dagger again, you will be much harder to pick out among your own kind now that the thing knows you have it. I will join you when the beast lands to protect you as I can."

Marius readies his shuriken and shouts once again.
[sblock=Draconic]
"ANOTHER IDIOT THAT THOUGHT POWER IS WORTH THE PRICE!" the shout targeted as much on the orcish shaman as on the wyvern, too bad dumb brute (no prejudice :p) doesn't understand it.
"COME AND GET IT!"
[/sblock]

Turning back to common, he looks around for the orc leader.
"Orcs! The wyvern is coming. Now is not time for small skirmishes. Fight or run for your lives!"

With all the looking around, he suddenly spots something that shouldn't be, brightly colored figure stepping out in the middle of the battlefield. How did she remained hidden until now? He stands dumbfounded for a moment.
Initiative: 1D20+3 = [1]+3 = 4 - better 1 now than on an attack :(

"Magic! It must be magic! Look at those robes. She is a caster of some stripe." he thinks as his brain catches up with his eyes
"Beware the caster!" he warns his companions "Spread out!"

But the lances of fire streak toward the wyvern and not their group. Relief.

OOC:
Ready action to throw Earthfire Shuriken into the wyvern as it passes to attack (should be close enough)
