"Erm...I didn't mean you need to shoot them whatever they are." Orklar looks at his companions as bolts click in place and arrows are knocked.
"Just that we need to be ready for trouble. I don't think it likely there are other friendly giants around. But those may be human or elven griphon riders. Could be." he shrugs.

"Maybe we can talk to them. We're not letting them up there for sure."

OOC:
Is there a space for a flyer to go into upper rooms without coming through us?

Aremus glances away from the line of his arrow, but doesn't relaxe his pull. "Oh, I don't plan on shooting friendly griffon-riders, friend Dwarf. On the other hand, if they ride manticores and accessorize with the bones of their enemies, I'll be shooting without greeting them today."

Round 0

Dren spends the days traveling in contemplation and meditation, interspersed with a few sparring matches with Bethany. He takes the tour of the tower offered, careful to stay clear of the griffons. But as a dwarf, he isn’t that comfortable in the sky. He prefers remaining in the tower on good, solid stone to trusting cloudstuff to support him.

When the call came about something on the horizon, Dren joined the others, sliding his axe into his belt. He picked up his goblin shortbow, as well. It might be more useful if there is a fight against flying enemies.

Fistan, Wizard 4

Fistan is beside himself with excitement at the prospect of studying in the library. He asks, begs and hassles everyone to help him retrieve books and turn pages, offering almost any favour in return for the assistance. The only distraction comes when Ordrar wishes to discuss magic, Fistan is only too happy to have a study partner.

At the call to action Fistan sighs and heads to the nearest window to see what is there. "Go see who they are." he says to Rillix, through their telepathic bond.

OOC: Given Fistan's (and the parties) rather limited funds at the moment, I can't see Fistan getting more than a single level 1 spell - assuming he can beg, borrow or steal the money to get 50GP (another 21GP). With the demand on Fistan's prepared spell slots, I'm really looking for useful rituals - Detect Magic; Comprehend Languages; Identify and Maybe Purify Food and Drink. The only 2nd level abjuration spell is POO and I don't think I can stretch to 100GP to copy any other 2nd level spell.

Cover: There are no giant rakes about, but the height of the cloud stuff varies. There are a few clumps out front that could provide half cover.

Level 1 Spells: Of the ones Fistan suggested, Zephyros only has comprehend languages.

Entry Points: Entering through the second floor would require shattering one of the stained glass windows. There is also the hole in the floor of the Aerie, but entering there might risk startling the griffons.

Rillix: The magical cat would be able to get close without drawing attention. Although Fistan is in Zephyros’ chambers, he is able to see the same as the players at the entrance.

The Strangers: The formation grows closer and the party is soon able to detect the surprising mounts – ferocious giant vultures. On the back of each creature is a lightly armored man wearing a bird shaped cowl.

If the party does not attack, the strangers would land. The formation would now be two riders, with fancier armor and capes, behind seven standard soldiers. The group, still on the backs of their birds, would attempt to approach the castle slowly.

“Yan-C-Bin’s blessing be with you,” cries out one of the caped men to any visible party members. “Please forgive the intrusion. Our master has misplaced a pet and believes it might be in this castle. May we look inside?”

Assuming no one attacks, Bethany says, authoritatively, "That would be up to the master of the castle. Allow us to get his position on that." She turns to the others and nods indicating Zephyros' direction.

"Greetings. There is only one pet here and it belongs to us. Rest for a bit and continue your search elsewhere." Ordrar adds as an explanation.

ooc: Zephyros is trancing and is not in our room, right? He's above us.

OOC: How famous is Yan-C Bin? *I* know who that is, and who these guys are, but would Aremus?

Aremus doesn't shoot, but he doesn't lower his bow and he eyes the strangers warily, expecting treachery.
