Dragonlance WotC Officially Confirms Takhisis and Tiamat Are The Same

It's been an issue in dispute for decades, over various editions of D&D, but WotC has officially confirmed that - at least in 5E - Dragonlance's Takhisis is, indeed, currently Tiamat. In previous editions, Tiamat has varied from being a big dragon to a minor goddess, while Takhisis has been a greater god on Krynn. At times they've been the same entity, and at others different entities. Today, WotC is putting its foot down and saying that Takhisis and Tiamat are, indeed, the same being.



Of course, this is not an opinion universally held. Dragonlance co-creator Margaret Weis emphatically stated that "TAKHISIS IS NOT TIAMAT, DAMN IT!"

Again, additive. That is not a value judgement. This just seems to be a series of examples you don't like (except the DC stuff, which i have acknowledged).

I would also say that Marvel (which I do care about), does a much better job with continuity than DC, whether you like what they did or not.

lets stick with the realms... have you heard people complain that one or more of the edition changes (time of troubles, spell plauge, ect) changed too much and 'blew up' the setting?

have you ever found a fan of darksun that LIKED the greening and space halflings?

Personally? Yes, but I'll still acknowledge some things change the established history of a setting and some things don't.

I actually like the addition of Vulcan FYI... not that it matters because I like some additive and dislike some. I like some retcons and dislike some.

I liked the Time of Troubles (the Avatar trilogy and its sequels are the only FR novels I've read). I didn't care for the 4th ed changes or the Spellplague, but I accept that they happened.

I liked the Prism Pentad too, for the record. You can always start a DS campaign before that if you don't like it.

Even a cheap mass market movie is tens of millions of dollars.

But again I will take the number of dracula and sherlock stories in the last 10 years (or spin off like Enola) to show how opening it up gives you better...

I am not arguing about "better". Please don't bother responding to my point on that basis.

My point is that there are limits to the economics of media, such that you cannot actually rely on Sturgeon's leftovers to get you good material.
