D&D (2024) Jeremy Crawford Gives an Overview of the New Unearthed Arcana

The largest Unearthed Arcana ever, with 50 pages of playtest material!

The upcoming Unearthed Arcana playtest packet for One D&D gets a preview from WotC's Jeremy Crawford. This is apparently the largest of these playtest packets so far, and the biggest Unearthed Arcana they have ever done, at 50 pages long.

It contains 5 classes, new spells, new feats, a revised rules glossary, and the new weapon mastery system.

For those of us at work or otherwise unable to watch, what is being covered?

Not much new in this if you've read the threads on Weapon Mastery.

But in general:
50 pages of UA
5 Classes (& 5 Subclasses) (no Monk yet)
Compatibility and Changes to 2014 notes.
Weapon Mastery properties to weapons, unlocked by Warrior classes & a Feat
More Compatibility videos to come closer to release.

Speculation: Probably see a video on Arcane Classes later today.

It's not ready. I'm not sure what that says, other than it will come eventually. I'm not sure how it can't be ready at this point...... But whatever. When the new version comes, it comes. And this isn't directed at you or anyone.
So from what they are saying is that right now it is in their internal playtesting phase. Everything else in their internal phase got a pass the monk did not. So it souns like until the first playtest if happy with something it is not moving on to the public playtest

Eternity will pass before I stop playing Monks

Ye I get you. It's just I've been waiting to see them for so long, this feels like a slap in the face

It is what it is though.

My guess is monks will have stances which will allow them to apply different mastery traits to unarmed attacks. So say the Savage Whirling Monkey Stance will allow them to apply cleave while the Iron Mountain Ox will allow them to apply push. Names totally my invention, though there SHOULD be a stance called Savage Whirling Monkey.
That would be fun

@GMforPowergamers did they just admit it’s not back compatible without adjustments?
They said that as the books gets closer to be completed they will check to make sure that nothing in the new class rules interferes with old rules. He goes on about how all of their adventures are created just assuming they you are playing a class but that the internal abilities of a class has no bering on how many adventure has been build so they should be plug and play
