Don't own it, do not like SJ, 2e or 5e, but I keep hearing it has none from just about every YT review. Weird...

OK, real talk: it has a ship combat system, same ship combat system as Ghosts of Saltmarsh, in fact, just you can imagine the combat in Space rather than at Sea. In both cases, it kind of an abstract, quick and dirty vehicle combat system. What those YouTubers mean is the the slipcase lacks a detailed, high octane mini driven combat system...which the 2E book facilitated. But there is a system in the 5E slipcase for simulating ship to ship combat. When they say "no ship combat system" read "not as detailed a combat system as I would prefer".

33 years on and it barely broke original sales suggests it was no actually especially successful.

I mean, it was more successful than most 2E Setting products were. Suggests the limits of the genre if Setting book, as much as anything.

Amazon reviews are really bad. Often it's something like "product arrived fast 5 stars".

And they rate from 4 to 5 stars range. Anywhere else that's about 50%. Worst adventure I've seen I would give a 5/10 (Tyranny of Dragons btw).

Looking at the reviews and a lot of the many star ones have caveats in them but still overall like the set. Interesting.
