I can only assume thst the logistics of fish preparation and the logistics of fast food are radically incompatible .
That’s the thing, it isn’t! There’s even FF seafood chains.

(For whomever mentioned Nordsee upthread, thanks for that! 🙏🏾 )

Microwaves & deep fryers are practically ubiquitous in fast food chains, and work as well with fish as anything else.

It’s more a matter of McDonalds catering to the Lenten observance of us Christians decades ago, and almost nobody in the FF market sector being willing to try something other than riffing off the McFish.

But If you live anywhere near a coast, you’ll know there’s all kinds of different good FF fish sandwiches available. Even on food trucks.

Can confirm used to make it.
. The flash frozen stuff is better than the "fresh" stuff at the supermarket which has that fish smell.

By the time it gets flash frozen it may have been dead fir several weeks already.

Minced fish was just the off cuts. Got msfe onto the crumbled or battered fish products at supermarket.

Big difference with fish fresh off the boat via staff sales vs supermarket or fish shop.

Exception is those places that source their fish direct off local fishermen. That's about as fresh as it gets for the consumer maybe a day or two old.
I remember an episode of a travel show visiting a Caribbean island nation. The show opened with a shot of a bar with a grill next to it, standing uncovered and unattended on a beach. Then a guy with a snorkel, spear and full net emerged from the water and walked up to the bar. Once there, he started cleaning, seasoning and cooking his catch.

Probably damn good eating.

Even on food trucks.

Food truck, you say? I could use a Korean fusion fish sandwich with goguchang.

ON MY WAY!

Sure, I know good fish resteraunts: but not with drive thrus and the sort of speed expectations of McDs and company. Long John Silvers is...not good, in my view.

If you like seafood, I would recommend Maine in August.

You will get so many lobsters and blueberries for so cheap, that you may never want to eat any more of them again.

Well, until next year. And when I say that you can find them in everything, I do mean it.

I mean, I live.in a great area for seafood already. Thinking about it, the limiter may be price based: decent beef is cheaper to.procure than decent fish, and Long John Silvers is a bit pricey: could be that straightforward Burgers cna be delivered much, much cheaper than fish...and the customers looking for a quick cheap eat will follow.

They’re NOT good. But to borrow a different chain’s motto, it’s hot and it’s ready. TBH the ONLY reason I eat at LJS is the fried clams. Here in Texas, they virtually have a monopoly on that dish.

And despite being “not good” they- and other FF chains- make many millions of dollars annually selling FF fish in the USA alone. (I imagine such chains also do a LOT of business In land-locked regions.

I’m reminded of my paternal aunt who lived in Massachusetts for a while. She used to talk about the McLobster.
