Spoilers Rebel Moon-my spoiler review

When expectations are higher, judgments are harsher. Which is probably why Battle Beyond the Stars is reasonably well remembered: people don't expect much from Roger Corman, so when it's not a complete stinker it's regarded as a win.

Which is also why when I talk about worst movies, it will not be Plan 9 or the Room or even Batman & Robin (although you can make an argument there but I will not agree). It's going to be movies made by people who should know better and had the chance to make something and then didn't.

And if a bad movie can be made fun of? That also lessens it. The worst movies are expensive shambles that make you feel nothing. Not joy, not awe, not mirth at the sight of ridiculousness, not hate. Just a bland mush. Possibly disappointment, but more in the sense that you're disappointed in yourself for not turning it off.

Everyone seems to just join up with very little resistance or reason.
Until you realize that the Evil(tm) Han Solo is actually a pretty good bounty hunter (helper?) and finds these kinds of people for a living. He just gave her a list where he expected to just join up with such a hopeless cause, he was right. Except for the unknown farmer that killed him... He couldn't have been more wrong there... ;)

I think the word 'campy' would be very appropriate for this movie...

So let me get this straight. They know the empire is coming and leave an entire planet to its demise so they can leave to protect one small village by attacking the star destroyer that isn’t even there because it had left, following them to the planet that would soon get wiped out?

They were just aliens, so they weren't important.

You mean the obviously-going-to-betray you character? Yeah, he could have just led the villains to where these guys were instead of waiting for angry hero to walk into the cantina and shoot up the place? He should have found them long ago, turned them in, and gone on his way with whatever payment or benefit the tie-wearing villain was going to give him for having betrayed them and turned them in.

Yes. I think it makes perfect sense. You shouldn't question the logic.

Or Barb Wire! :ROFLMAO:

'The film was ranked in the bottom 20 of the Stinkers' "100 Years, 100 Stinkers" list, which noted the 100 worst movies of the 20th century, at #19.'

Barb Wire was a shot-for-shot remake of Casablanca (with the rarely seen Humphrey-Bogart-takes-a-shower scene restored). It gets a lot of points for the cojones it takes to literally remake Casablanca like that.

Most bad movies don't even have 1/10 of the ambition that Barb Wire does.

I know. If only Pamela Anderson knew how to act, then the movie would have had some value as a pastiche but it falls flat. Lofty goals are not enough.
