The bigger issue is that a large percentage of Amazon reviewers are morons, who want to review the delivery driver, the packaging for an item, a completely different item that they got confused with a given listing, some political issue that has no apparent connection to the pasta maker they're giving a one-star review to, etc.

"People are mad at WotC and out to get them" is a rounding error in comparison.
Not to mention people that don't read the description of the product they purchased, and then complaint about a what should've been a known quantity

A few copies of the "fixed" Deck of Many Things have been popping up on Amazon since it's release Jan 5th, but they keep selling out for a while and then popping up again and selling out again. So far there is only one review posted (dated Jan 7th), and it is far from flattering. The reviewer says the cards are damaged and badly warped, and he includes photos. Hopefully this dude just got a single bad copy and they aren't all going to be like that. But, just in case they are all bad, there is still hope . . . If WotC has forgotten how to manufacture cards correctly, they can always sign a contract with Bicycle to make the cards for them. Bicycle has been making playing cards since the 1800s and I haven't gotten a bad deck from them yet.
I own a FLGS and have 5 players in an after-hours game. Three of them bought the Deck of Many Things from me and opened them. All of them looked gorgeous.

There are now 10 reviews on Amazon, all of them poor. It's true that one of them is complaining about water damage in shipment, but the rest are pretty much whining about the quality of the cards, with some providing photos. They are also all "verified purchasers", meaning they bought the items through the Amazon website and did not buy them somewhere else just to use the Amazon site to complain later. And all reviews were filed since the Jan 5 release date. I'm not going to disagree with the above assessments regarding the quality of Amazon reviews or the reviewers, but I doubt that all ten reviewers are stupid, dishonest, or whatever.

I have a different hypothesis. To the best of my knowledge, the defective version of this product was never made available to the general public. I know that some early copies were sent out to reviewers, but the rest were recalled a couple of weeks before the original scheduled release date of Nov 14. Someone correct me if I'm wrong about this. So how are all these copies from the early print run supposedly showing up on Amazon?

I think that perhaps some distributer got the message that the release date for the product had changed but did not know that the reason for the delay was because the original copies were recalled, and so he just held on to the defective product until the new release date came along and then started shipping out his defective product on Jan 5 instead of the new print run. That doesn't mean all the ones coming from Amazon (or perhaps one of the Amazon merchants) are bad, but perhaps some of them are coming from this old stock. I don't know if this is the case or not (as I said, it's just a hypothesis), but it would explain why so many Amazon customers say they are getting old copies while they people who are buying from FLGSs or other sources say their cards are great.

I was thinking about buying mine from Amazon using some of my gift card balance, but these reports have convinced me to go to my FLGS instead.
I would have gotten my copy from a LGS (it ain't all that friendly) to begin with but it was a gift so didn't choose where it came from.
