    Faerie Adventure: What System?

Are you talking about writing an adventure that assumes that the PCs are faeries, or that assumes the PCs are typical fantasy tropes and the NPCs are faeries? If the former, might I suggest "Faery's Tale" by Green Ronin. Its a very rules-light, light-hearted game. I've used it with great...

    Simple Game Systems

I used Faery's Tale to run a Christmas one-shot (everyone played Christmas elves, tin soldiers, reindeer, etc.) for a group of adults and it played beautifully. For a game with more story than combat, I think it works admirably. You might also consider Dread, which is designed as a horror game...

Where can I find a game shop in Denver, CO?

I am not familiar with Denver itself, but if you don't mind driving out into the suburbs, you might consider trying Black and Read in Arvada, Black and Read Its a big store, pretty messy and unorganized, but usually has a large selection and a particularly nice collection of old material.

    Can o' worms- opinions sought

My apologies to Whisperfoot, but I don't care for this change. I am afraid that the result would be very different than Whisperfoot imagines. In particular, a popular vote at the beginning of the process would pretty much eliminate all smaller publishers. The Judges would then only be able to...

    Can o' worms- opinions sought

If d20 products can't compete in the best product category, then it isn't really the best product. If you decide to keep the d20 category (which I suggest you do), you could always have a best non-d20 category as well (while keeping the best overall product category).

True 20 - Is it really Simpler?

I apologize if I appeared to be saying that less predictability is a bad thing. No value judgement was intended.

True 20 - Is it really Simpler?

I think this is a very fair way to think about it. The big difference is that the expenditure of the Conviction is much less predictable than the expenditure of Hit Points, thus, the higher variability of combat outcome that some have already mentioned in this thread.

True 20 - Is it really Simpler?

While I agree that the damage track of True20 isn't difficult and works pretty well once the players and the DM get used to it, I would disagree that it is fundamentally simpler than HP. There isn't much simpler than, subtracting damage from your HP until you reach 0 at which point you drop...

    2006 ENnies Judge Voting Poll/Thread

It's also a reasonable stance that post count might indicate a dedication to the community. Which in my opinion isn't a bad quality in a judge. *** Low sigh at my own feeble post count ***

    When did "Medireview" = Medieval???

I would like to see an explanation of this statement. This isn't an attack; I am genuinely interested. According to dictionary.com the modern word "belfry" comes from the Middle English "belfrei".

    FLGS in Denver/Fort Collins area

Black and Read does indeed have an enormous selection even if it is somewhat disorganized. There are also many smaller shops with slightly less selection much closer to Fort Collins than Denver. Stonebridge games (449 Main Street) in Longmont is just one example. Being a college town, Fort...

Publishers: Why'd you name your company what you did?

Oddly enough our name has very little to do with dogs. Our local gaming group started referring to themselves as the DOGS (Decrepit Old Gamers Society) after we were told by a college student that we were recruiting that we were all too old. Therefore, our local set of house rules became the DOG...

Natural resources and where they are found

I don't think coal is really that picky about where you find it. In the US coal is prevalent in large swaths of Appalachia and the south west. One is a forested hilly country and the other is a desert. You can find smaller deposits in many other locations as well. Old coal mines dot the high...
